We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join the business, with the opportunity to grow as a subject matter expert to influence the future systems engineering capability. The Systems Engineer will work across the business and provide assurance on project deliverables at various stages of the product development lifecycle. This will include requirements elicitation and management, and the development to a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) centric process.
The Systems Engineer will develop next generation operational concepts and system architectures, and step in when required to ensure excellence in systems delivery. This role has the potential to evolve into a subject matter expert in systems engineering to develop, implement, and manage new systems engineering tools and processes into the business as well as mentoring and training the system engineering community. This role is based from Wimborne, Dorset. We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, such as working remotely with attendance on site on an agreed basis as required.
As a Principal Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:

Influence the continual improvement of the systems engineering capability at CMS, including the evolution to a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
Lead and deliver workpackages across various stages of the systems lifecycle processes.
Manage the requirements management database, owning the preparation of system requirements specifications in accordance with customer requirements, legislation, human factors and business needs.
Work with other systems engineers to ensure best practice in requirements elicitation and management, creating a SMART and therefore verifiable sets of requirements.
Apply and develop Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, processes and techniques to develop system architectures that meet stakeholder needs.
Develop Operational Concepts (OpsCon) of our next generation systems, developing use cases and generating requirements that can validate customer needs.
Develop company best practices and use to create system/sub–system architectures and the decomposition, allocation of requirements into sub–systems and LRUs.
Identify and clearlyspecify the interfaces at the system and sub–system level
Plan and budget systems engineering activities.
Produce technical reports and Systems/Requirements Management Plans
Qualifications
As a Principal Systems Engineer, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, electrical engineering or equivalent experience
Experience in working on complex projects
Experience working in a Systems Engineering role, with it being desirable that the experience was gained within the Aerospace, Military or safety critical Industry
Experience of planning, leading and executing requirements capture and systems architectures development
Awareness of systems modelling, with exposure to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), the SysML modelling language, and tools (e.g. Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect, Capella and/or CAMEO).
Experience using requirements capture tools (e.g. CRADLE, Rhapsody and DOORS NG).
Experience of interfacing with internal and external customers to negotiate, capture, and validate system concepts, requirements and architectures.
Understand the significance of Systems Thinking and has an appreciation of applying Systems Thinking to solve problems.
Able to apply systems engineering tools and methods to complex engineering problems.
Can problem solve, is able to apply critical thinking to form opinions on issues and proposed concepts, and is self–motivated to drive issues to resolution.
Knowledge of systems engineering processes across all stages of the systems engineering lifecycle.
Exposure to industry standards such as ARP4754A, IEC15288 is desirable.
Effective communicator in formal and informal situations.
Must have or be eligible obtain SC Clearance.
Chartered engineer in the UK or working towards chartership
