Sustainability Programme Manager
Are you an ambassador for Sustainability with technical know–how?
We are looking for a project manager to deliver our environmental labelling programme and maximise our social impact.
About the role
You ll be delivering technical support in projects within IGD s environmental labelling programme, a key part of our sustainability pillar.
The role includes input into the delivery of wider IGD Sustainability programmes; for example, our thought–leading activities around sustainable packaging systems, climate change, food waste reduction and food surplus redistribution.
And you ll be helping to manage our network of external stakeholders to inform our approach and maximise our impact, acting as an ambassador for our Sustainability agenda both externally and within the organisation.
The responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, these include:
Programme management
The project managing, owning and delivering of key elements including specific projects within IGD s environmental labelling programme, ensuring annual targets are met within agreed budgets.
The ownership of specific tasks within our wider Sustainability pillar, as required, and monthly reporting on progress against KPIs for areas of responsibility – identifying risks, opportunities and recommending contingencies.
You ll be working with colleagues, industry, delivery partners and external consultants to develop and deliver content for your projects (including reports, briefing notes, toolkits, online content etc.).
And you will be developing your expertise, including analysing trends and monitoring customer feedback across your areas of responsibility to recommend opportunities for future development and continuous improvement.
Through your input to our annual business planning process for the Sustainability pillar, you ll help inform long–term strategic planning.
Stakeholder management and communication
Supporting the management of project relevant industry working groups, you ll ensure high levels of engagement with IGD and also that they help to deliver impact.
Working with colleagues across the Social Impact team and wider IGD, you ll develop and maintain a network of external stakeholders to support your projects, representing IGD at external meetings, as required.
Working with the Marketing team, you ll help us to develop effective communications plans for your areas of responsibility, to raise awareness and drive engagement with our Sustainability programmes.
And you ll raise awareness of Sustainability activities right across IGD, ensuring internal understanding, supporting colleagues wherever appropriate.
What you bring
The experience of working in or with the UK food and consumer goods industry, within a Sustainability role
Experience with life–cycle assessment, environmental labelling or behaviour change science (desirable)
Strong project management skills – being well organised and capable of working under pressure, adopting a flexible approach to changing priorities
Highly motivated with the ability to drive programmes and the flexibility to work across a broad range of Sustainability issues
Excellent interpersonal and relationship–building skills, with experience managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
A team player with the ability to collaborate across the organisation
Educated to degree level in Sustainability (desirable) with excellent written & verbal communication skills
The rewards
We offer a range of benefits, including a market leading pension, a bonus scheme, the ability to buy and sell annual leave plus a generous medical insurance package. At IGD, we have a great work–life balance, where you are empowered and trusted to manage your time.
