Our client, a supplier of measurement and detection systems for hazardous environments, is looking for a Systems Engineer for their imaging systems division in Farnborough. The purpose of the role is to provide embedded software, PC application software, and IP network design for the company s products. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified with a relevant accreditation and have experience with assembly language, C / C++ and Visual basic.net as well as an understanding of cameras, optics, lenses, light wavelengths, and thermal radiation.

Providing embedded software, PC application software, and IP network design for the company s imaging products.
Liaising with the Product Managers and Design Engineers to guide and assist the project teams with the delivery of projects in accordance with customer specifications.
Being responsible for system design life cycle including concept, detailed design, production and assembly support, testing, installation, commissioning and upgrading or system replacements.
Software development, integration of hardware and software, with other design specialties such as electronic and mechanical design.
Configurating cameras, Win7 onwards computers, including secure computing configuration and computer application installation and configuration
Design for manufacture ensuring products are safe, reliable, and meet required industry standards
Assess design compliance and prepare Technical Construction Files for product compliance verification
Generating reports, heat load calculations, test specifications and verification procedures, and master data within the ERP system (Item data, BOMs, Routes)
Technical writing of operator manuals, installation manuals, help files for both hardware and software
Creating FAT, WAT, SAT documentation and preforming associated acceptance tests
Preparing cost sheets (material and labour costs) and technical commentary for Sales Enquires
Providing technical support to internal customers and to the Sales and Service teams.

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
Ideally qualified to a minimum degree level in relevant field (or equivalent experience)
Experience of programming using Assembly language, C / C++ and Visual basic .net
Experience of real time control including motor control and thermal control algorithms
Good and demonstrable knowledge of EMC Compliance and safety
Excellent communication skills, time management and organisational skills

Understanding of nuclear fission radiation types, units, and effects on materials/electronic components.
