Operations Director

Car Allowance, 10% contribution, Holiday – 25 days + BH, Private Health Insurance, Life Assurance – 4 times annual salary. Target Bonus.

We are recruiting an Operations Director for an international business with two sites in the UK. The operations include Production and Logistics and based in Nottinghamshire and South Warwickshire.

Your three core responsibilities will be;

Managing the production and logistics operations with 110+ employees with 2 Operational managers,
Supporting the businesses strategy and continually developing the business.
Improve Procurement including developing the supply chain both internally and externally.
We are seeking a person who can bring with them operational excellence to an already market leading internationally renowned business.

Job Purpose :

The Operations Director will play a critical role in improving the effectiveness of the company working hand in hand with all business functions to develop, manage and implement strategies for existing/new business areas to significantly improve cost/efficiency, margin, quality, innovation, customer service and return on investment.

To devise, implement and manage all operational/procurement/facilities, health & safety costs/budget's and processes ensuring that the control framework, competitiveness and strategy is developed and maintained effectively to support its annual expenditure.
To develop, implement and manage the strategy of any manufacturing, storage, stock, assembly and warehousing production sites along with the third party subcontract and supply base in order to increase and/or balance capacity across the group network ensuring delivery of products and services efficiently and exceeding customer service expectations.
Establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure relevant health and safety delivering a safe workplace, welfare facilities plant & machinery, safe movement and storage of all products and equipment.
Achieve and maintain all required business accreditations, certifications, environmental and quality standards to uphold the business as a Professional and reliable organisation to do business with.
Develop and drive a lean philosophy across the group.

Main Responsibilities:

To ensure successful service delivery of products and services from brief through to project delivery i.e. Procurement, D&D, delivery, sales and operations
Management of all group operating sites/facilities including activities, production schedules core competencies, space planning, facilities, costs and budgets to improve cycle time of processes, increased reliability and efficiency.
Management and effective control of all stock and inventory across group ensuring levels and cycle times are adhered to group KPI's
Ensuring wherever possible all company sites within the group are operating in a uniform manner and meet group expectations.
To develop supply chain and manage and all procurement activities within group
To analyse and assess existing supplier contracts and agreements, source new suppliers, complete end to end strategic lifecycle across the business.
Developing and implementing the operations strategy for the Group improving cycle times of processes, quality control, increased reliability and cost.
Developing systems of control, policies and procedures relating to operations, procurement, stock, health & safety, operations and supply chain.
To identify, obtain and maintain appropriate business accreditations, environmental and quality standards to maximise competitive position.
Development, documentation and compliance of appropriate internal procedures and policies to ensure adherence to local and external relevant health and safety policies
Management of general employee welfare and to ensure so far is reasonably practical all staff are protected against any risks through suitable facilities, consistent with good practice.
Developing, implementing and driving a sustainability strategy and policy ensuring best practice within the group.
To entrench good co–ordination & relationship between UK / GmbH for relevant departments of responsibility.
To ensure areas of responsibility are delivered in a way that is consistent with the company's financial and cost improvement plans.
To develop and manage the sustainability strategy of the UK group
Leadership Responsibilities

Contribute to the development, communication and promotion of corporate core purpose, vision, mission and values.
To achieve resilience in your functional areas by succession planning and the minimisation of staff attrition, paying constant attention to the coaching, motivating mentoring of staff and to their skill and knowledge development monitoring activities.
Contribute towards developing the strategic direction of the group ensuring Board Of Directors are systematically appraised of market opportunities.
Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the business in order to meet stretching financial and performance targets, including the implementation of lean methodology.
Requirements

Previous experience at senior management or director level in the Manufacturing, Automotive, Logistics or similar sector.

Experience with developing and delivering a procurement strategy, supply chains, import and export

Live within a commutable distance of South Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.

Experience of Lean or similar methodologies.

Able to travel abroad.
