Our client is a large Public sector organisation based in the Liverpool area. A highly regarded and rewarding organisation with an extremely exciting opportunity to join the team as an Interim Project Accountant. The client will offer hybrid working and a salary up to £67,000 equivalent to a daily rate.
Description
The responsibilities of the Interim Project Accountant include but are not limited to Support the Assistant Director of Finance & Commercial in forums such as Portfolio Delivery Board, Project Board etc, to drive improvement and strategy in the work of the Finance department in delivering good governance, practice, and compliance with the control environment. To monitor and review cost performance of projects, providing sound financial support and advice, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers, and evaluating processes to ensure financial controls are in place. Deliver accurate and consistent project reporting information to meet the needs of the project team and finance management. Provide stakeholders with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as project forecasts. Deliver value adding and robust financial service to the projects and initiate continual review and improvement of processes and procedures. Work alongside budget holders to agree forecasts which highlight significant financial risks and opportunities early and provide advice to ensure that risks and opportunities are fully understood so that mitigating decisions are taken. Build and maintain relationships with budget holders. Provide accurate, timely and consistent month end reporting in accordance with Finance timetables to Stakeholders. Assisting with systems and reporting improvements.

Profile
The successful candidate will:
- Be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or CIPFA) ESSENTIAL
- Have previous experience in a project accountant role ESSENTIAL
- Previous Finance Business Partnering experience ESSENTIAL
- Advanced excel skills ESSENTIAL
- Excellent time and project management skills ESSENTIAL
- Be immediately available or on a weeks notice period ESSENTIAL
- Have worked in a Public Sector organisation previously DESIRABLE
