Senior Commercial Finance Manager

A global FMCG business are seeking a well organised, Senior Commercial Finance Manager to join their expanding team in Liverpool. This is a highly visable role, a key strategic hire for the business and you will report directly to the Commercial Finance Director. The role has come available due to an internal promotion.

This is an exciting opportunity to join this diverse business at a time of exciting growth both domestically and internationally. The Senior Commercial Finance Manager position offers the opportunity to act as a key Finance Business Partner and will be a value adding role from day one. The Senior Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for providing monthly financial analysis and insight into the groups commercial performance. You will also have ownership of the annual budgeting & forecasting process and the regular report packs for senior management. Furthermore, you will be required to deliver step changes to the quality and efficiency of the management reporting and forecasting.

You must be a well organised, commercial, qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) who strives to deliver continuous improvement. You must have strong analytical skills and be able to present financial data clearly and accurately to non finance personnel.

This role will be based in Liverpool but the business has embraced hybrid working and the successful candidate will be able to work from home for a significant part of the week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Challenging the Profit responsible Directors on profitability – current and forecast.
  • To manage a team to produce accurate and timely Management Accounts packs and supporting schedules on a monthly and ad-hoc basis.
  • To represent the Finance function within the commercial team and to ensure compliance with Group policies during the decision making process.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy for the global business and individual business units, and take appropriate steps to improve accuracy where needed
  • Analysing and monitoring business performance, and explaining movements to the FD and MD.
  • Lead and oversee annual budgeting
  • Develop and improve weekly and monthly reporting to Group.
Key Requirements
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA,CIMA,ACCA)
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, data manipulation is essential e.g. Pivot tables, filters, lookups, ability to think and work creatively to meet business needs
  • Good communication and organisation skills, written English and report writing experience preferable
  • Excellent analysis skills
  • Proven track record in an Commercial Finance role with the ability to shape and evolve current systems into best practice
