Backed by leading venture capital funds our client is an exciting AI startup with an impressive, international client base. They are now looking to recruit a Finance Director to work with a highly driven management team as they seek to drive the future growth both in the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities

As Finance Director your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Build and lead a finance function capable of supporting our business as it scales
  • Ownership of the full financial and accounting records, ensuring HMRC and other statutory reporting requirements are met.
  • Build out KPIs to monitor financial performance, and to own and operate company forecasts and create reports for stakeholders, including investors
  • Work with external accountants to review financial management information (such as P&L, quarterly and annual accounts, and other financial KPls) and monitor all company tax matters
  • Manage the company options scheme, including HMRC filings, updating valuations and general scheme maintenance
  • Contribute to fundraising activities, including grants and fundraises
  • Feed into investment strategy across the business to help prioritise spend
  • Help to formulate compensation scheme in line with budgets, forecasts and changes in the market
  • Work with the Sales and Account Management teams to manage invoicing and receivables collections.
  • Own ad hoc projects as they arise e.g. R&D Credits
Skills
  • Proven track record at a senior level in a fast growth / early stage B2B environment
  • Familiarity with building a finance function from scratch would be advantageous
  • Experience in a tech business and exposure to PE/VC preferred (previous delivery in Series A-C funding rounds would be a huge advantage)
  • Ability and experience of working closely with an executive team to drive commercial outcomes, grow the business, and contribute to strategic discussions and decisions across all function areas.
  • Demonstrable experience of long-term value-creation and delivering high-quality management information and analysis
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities to inspire both direct and indirect colleagues as well as partners and suppliers to the business.
Profile
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills
  • Hungry to make an impact and get stuck in
  • Ability to work independently while still building strong relationships with peers and external stakeholders
  • A naturally inquisitive mind
