Our client is an award–winning multi–disciplinary property consultancy offering Architecture, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering and Building Surveying services to a wide variety of clients in the UK.

Due to their continued success and growing business demands they currently have a vacancy for Financial Controller to help deliver their future growth.

The role of the Financial Controller is to assist the Practice in the provision of comprehensive financial guidance. As a financial controller, you will provide support to their partners so they can make sound business decisions and meet the company's objectives. The business currently has a finance team of two and an external part–time finance director consultant where both the directors and consultant are seeking a hands–on finance person to manage the team, improve the processes, and work with the board of partners to provide key monthly financial numbers.

Key Duties:

The current management accounts are conducted via external consultants which require this to be brought in–house once the new person has understood the following.

* Prior month invoicing (compared with projections) and 'next 12 months' fee projection with speculative reporting by working with the partners of the business.

* Monthly/Quarterly and annual WIP reporting working with a team of senior partners.

* Manage the Purchase Order and Purchase Invoice process.

* Manage the sales process.

* Full overview reviews cost savings etc.

* Monthly/Quarterly and budget reviews with fresh forecasts updated.

* Dashboard monthly reporting and Key Performance Indices such as EBITDA.

* Day to day line management support for the Finance Advisor & Finance Assistant with mentoring

* Day to day cash flow management covering the second approver to agreed values, paying bills once process approved.

* Regular review of business costs to highlight areas where savings could be made (even just a sanity check that all is okay).

* Overseeing issuing and checking of external consultants MI pack, in time producing these reports.

* Payroll management is currently performed by external consultants with a view to possibly bringing in–house to enable payslips, P60, P32 and full HMRC compliance.

* VAT returns, national statistics and other compliance reports

* Producing audit–ready files for auditors and working papers with clean audits.

* Manage and mentor staff ideally with knowledge of Xero although training can be provided.

* Additional projects as requested by the partners covering financial scenarios, overheads tenders, costing projects, discounted cash flows etc.

Specialist knowledge and qualifications

* A person who can operate hands–on with daily tasks and strategic finance support.

* Someone comfortable working with staff and Business Partners.

* Someone with post–qualifying experience, ideally ACCA finalist or fully qualified or qualified by experience.

* Advance Excel skills covering Macros, VLOOKUP, and Pivot tables.

* Xero Accountancy package skills.
