Director of Software Engineering ??? fully remote

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Director of Software Engineering to work with a rapidly growing FinTech as a key player in the next stage of their expansion. Along with a salary of up to GBP120,000 per annum, you will also receive GBP500 for a desk/chair for your home office and GBP60 per month remote working allowance, an annual bonus, pension scheme, unlimited holiday, medical insurance, life assurance and critical illness cover.

Working as a key part of their leadership team you will continue to build and manage their world–class engineering team, attracting and developing engineering talent to solve a variety of customer problems while encouraging innovation and creativity.

You will take accountability for delivery across your teams in line with product roadmaps, maintaining high levels of engineering excellence, and ensuring bottlenecks / blockers to success are identified early and managed accordingly. You will be responsible for a group of c. 20 engineers; mentoring and coaching your teams as well as ensuring their individual growth plans are identified and encouraged.

As Director of Software Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

Recruiting and managing a team of highly talented engineers to deliver a wide range of projects
Creating full stack development teams to focus to customers
Driving innovation across architecture, engineering, database, and devops teams
Building a collaborative and trust–based culture where team members are empowered to deliver their best work in an environment that encourages advancement
Working closely with the executive team to deliver great products and solve customer problems
Continuously engaging collaboratively across all teams, encouraging process improvement and new development techniques to achieve the best solutions
Supporting Engineers in defining their career paths, giving them the opportunity to learn new technologies and being exposed to more challenging projects
Coordinating the development of cross–team features between teams, product managers, and technical operations teams.
We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering who has the following skills and experiences:

Demonstrable experience in a senior software development management/director level role
Experienced in leading cross–functional teams delivering solutions to complex problems, allowing teams a highly degree of autonomy
Experience working in an environment that encourages creativity and experimentation to find the best solution
Strong background in object–oriented programming, across languages such as Java, C#, C++
Experience in managing managers in building productive teams
Agile/Kanban/Lean experience
Capable and comfortable working with high–level management and executives
Strong project management experience
