Systems Engineer

The role is for the leading independent centre of engineering design, design support, app development and technical services for defence and security customers. The position can be flexible on location either in the main offices in central Bath or remote working.

About the job:

Are you looking to apply your developing systems engineering knowledge to new and varied challenges within the defence and security sector; from helping and advising customers in concept phase development, through to supporting the delivery of capability into service? If so, this role may be for you. My client currently requires Systems Engineers who will deliver acquisition and support orientated consultancy type services within DE&S, Defence Digital and Front Line Commands. In this role you will be:

Supporting the development and management of User and System level requirements, acceptance and test planning and management for complex systems and platforms.
Applying systems engineering processes (e.g. ISO15288:2015) across the lifecycle and developing appropriate engineering documentation, eg. Management Plans, Requirement Strategies, Acceptance Plans, Architectural Definitions.
Developing your understanding of engineering within the MOD's procurement framework, Knowledge In Defence (KID), to develop the engineering artefacts required to support the customer's business case process and CADMID phases.
Developing architectures across the enterprise using standard languages (e.g. Archimate, UML, SysML) and frameworks (e.g. MoDAF, TOGAF).About you:

To be suitable for the Systems Engineer role, you will have some initial engineering industry experience, ideally supporting the delivery of complex systems in a regulated sector. You will also have a degree, or equivalent qualification, in an engineering or science subject. You will thrive on new challenges, be motivated by variety and have a strong desire to build on your experience and become a systems engineering expert in a consultancy environment. To be successful in the role you will ideally have:

An understanding of the Systems Engineering V model and experience in one or more of its stages.
Some initial practical and relevant industrial or consultancy experience of engineering complex systems, ideally in a regulated sector.
An awareness of different systems modelling approaches and their application.
An interest in systems engineering and systems thinking and a desire to work within this specialist domain.
The determination to further your career and gain Chartered Engineer status.
