Operations Director

Salary: GBP75,000 – GBP85,000
The Client
A privately owned company located in the West Midlands and Worcestershire established over 50 years ago and the UK's leading manufacturers in their field. Providing a design and manufactured bespoke solution to their clients they are supplying many of the biggest brands and e–commerce companies across the globe, with around 30% of their product exported this client has an annual turnover in excess of GBP30M. Following continued success and recent expansion of the Senior Management structure they have the opening for an appointment for an Operations Director to enable them to deliver the companies projected business plan for growth.
The Role
As Operations Director you will be central to ensuring that the company delivers to its full potential, enabling the business owners to achieve their visions and to turn strategies into reality. You will work with the Senior Management team to support the development of the business strategy and to create operational plans to meet agreed goals, alongside setting goals for operational efficiency, productivity, lead times, stock levels and quality. As Operations Director you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining improvements regarding efficiency and productivity and you will monitor all performance and provide working solutions where necessary. In general terms you will be responsible for staffing levels, daily and weekly production targets, skills matrix training and delivery, process improvement initiatives, assisting line managers in managing their teams and achieving targets, working alongside planning and logistics to ensure optimum efficiency, be responsible for overtime costs and to create, maintain, monitor and continually improve KPI's within the business.
You will be fully responsible for the following departments and their key functions;
* Manufacturing; output, performance data, SOP's and process improvement
* Maintenance; buildings, production assets, tooling, capital expenditure
* Quality, Health & Safety and Environment; legislation adherence, training schedules for all staff, maintain a quality culture, technical specifications, right first time attitude, proactive reporting and corrective action generation
The Candidate
The successful applicant for the role of Operations Director will be the site main controller, you will be supported by a degree in a relevant technical subject and have a minimum of 10 years' experience as Senior Leader within operations in a manufacturing business. You will need to demonstrate your proven ability of leading operational transformation projects, implementing lean principles, as well as being able to manage budgets and supporting and creating short and long term business plans. You will be highly communicative, able to liaise with the company owners and the shop floor staff at all levels and in a professional manner at all times, you will be able to successfully implement change in process, behaviour and attitudes when needed and you will have excellent knowledge of multiple operational functions including production, customer service, new product introduction and employee management.
