Head of Plasterboard Category – British Gypsum – Saint Gobain – East Leake Based Role (Hybrid Working)

To identify the market opportunities within the target category and demonstrate skilful portfolio management including new product development, service initiatives and promotional campaigns driving customer purchase behaviour that contributes to the achievement of company goals and strategy.

Create a clear category plan as part of overall marketing plan to achieve business objectives. Utilise marketing intelligence and customer insights to develop long range category plan. Implement with direct reports the tactical plan with wider commercial teams. Uses influence across other departments to achieve portfolio strategies.

Role Accountabilities

Leadership – * Leads, motivates and develops direct reports to ensure they have capability to deliver a progressive system and portfolio strategy utilizing SG values of trust, empowerment & collaboration
Market Intelligence – Reviews and regularly updates competitor analysis and benchmarking. Develops assumptions of route to market and situational analysis to perform marketing audit for category. Inputs into long range forecasts for portfolio.
Gathers and reviews plasterboard import data for analysis and review
Strategic Marketing Planning – Create a clear category plan as part of overall marketing plan to achieve business objectives. Utilise marketing intelligence and customer insights to develop plan.
Implements tactical plan with wider marketing teams. Uses influence across other departments to achieve portfolio strategies
Portfolio Management – Has clear rationale and understanding of the life cycles, customer PUV, price management and sector assumptions for the category.
Is in charge of rationale and management of the de–listings process and implementation of new listings for the category to enable a fit for purpose proposition for customers. Owns the product recall process steps for their category.
Sets the communication strategies for the portfolio with wider marketing team, thereby building knowledge and supporting behavioral change for the supply chain. Inputs and helps shape target customer communication strategy and personas with wider marketing team.
Influences and sometimes manages key business projects
Marketing Processes – Takes ownership of relevant marketing processes related to the category and ensures these are followed by team. Updates and regularly reviews process for suitability as part of wider marketing teams audit.
Commercial Awareness – Understands the current and anticipated market dynamics for the product portfolio in collaboration with the rest of the strategic team to identify and anticipate market opportunities and challenges
Proposition Development – Develop and iterate concepts and proposition in collaboration with wider commercial teams and across the business to craft the optimal category proposition to achieve business revenue and margin targetsRequired Experience and Qualifications

Proven delivery of category strategy
Leadership and ability to influence of cross functional teams
Proven portfolio management – Accountability and ownership of category
The ability to create and deliver strategic plans
Results orientated and the ability to understand strategic needs
Project management
