Product DirectorSalary: GBP60 – GBP75,000 (dependent on knowledge & experience) + GBP6k Car AllowanceHybrid working: 3 days home and 2 days office
The Company:Our client is part of a larger privately–owned group of companies who have offices and distribution facilities across the UK and in Europe. They are a long–established, profitable, family–owned business, supplying domestic & commercial lighting to the UK electrical market via distributors.
The Job:This is an exciting new role which will enable the company to take a more dynamic and professional approach to product development and management.
A standalone role with sole responsibility for the full lifecycle of products and providing the vital link between the market and the company sales, marketing, and technical teams. You will be the lead for new product development, sourcing the best products, negotiating with suppliers and developing strong relationships. You will be the go–to resource for all aspects of product expertise and knowledge within the business.
The successful candidate will be an experienced product manager with knowledge of the electrical wholesale market, supplying electrical/lighting products aspiring to take the next step or you are already operating at director level but enjoy rolling your sleeves up and being actively involved with hands on responsibilities then this is the job for you???
This is a hybrid role with your time balanced between working from home and our client's office in Wellingborough with occasional travel to the far east to attend lighting fairs whilst combining factory visits.
Description
- Managing and taking ownership of the entire product lifecycle (from initial identification, concept, development, launch, useful sales life, exit plan).
- Developing a pipeline of new product proposals which meet the needs of the target market, as validated by up–to–date market research and first–rate knowledge of competitors' products and prices.
- Driving development of the product portfolio.
- People management for the Technical and Graphic Design functions
- Negotiating with suppliers and developing suitable and reliable new sources to ensure we are managing costs whilst also focusing on excellent quality, to providing the best outcomes for the business and customers
- Deliver cohesive supplier management to include building robust product supplier relationships, monitoring and addressing performance, and conducting dispute resolution
- Carry out on–going reviews of suppliers to maximise benefit and optimise costs.
- Monitor and manage supplier risks and ownership of service level agreements
The Person:
- Experience of working for a supplier to the electrical wholesaling market
- Experience of working in a buying, purchasing or supplier management role
- In depth, market relevant knowledge of electrical/lighting products sold through wholesalers
- Experience of working with Chinese suppliers
- A CIPS qualification
