Head of Finance & Control

Head of Finance & Control | 100–120k + bonus + package | Westminster / Hybrid Working

A hugely successful global services business based in London are seeking to appoint an experienced and talented Head of Finance & Control.

The role has responsibility for end–to–end reporting, to delivery of statutory financial statements, management/investor packs, technical accounting papers amongst other deliverables. Good communication and team management will be particularly important given the close interaction with senior leadership and dealing with various stakeholders across other functions, including but not limited to, Tax; Treasury; Financial Operations; Financial Planning & Analysis; Internal Control; Internal Audit; and External Audit. A passion for transformation and proactively driving improvement across the function will be key.

Key areas of responsibility

• Take ownership of business activity reporting with top–down focus on consolidated results, while driving timely and accurate delivery of inputs from wider business and entity controllers (from bottom up)
• Drive timely and accurate close of general ledger in accordance with month end timetable and review work delivered by managers and assistant managers
• Coach, manage and develop direct reports and the wider team
• Manage the relationship with the external auditors
• Lead/ take responsibility for transformation and process improvement projects across the Finance & Control function
• Deliver all local regulatory/ compliance/ tax reporting, timely and accurately
• Work with the SOX Senior Manager to implement appropriate internal controls across the function
• Support departments and finance business partners on financial accounting matters, including accuracy of results across departments and commentary on material entries
• Apply a challenger mindset to help drive improvements and contribute towards creating a best–in–class finance function
• Seek to constantly improve and implement best practice within the team, driving improvement in the team's performance through your own ways of working, and delivering work of a high standard whilst demonstrating "what good looks like"

Candidate Profile

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant (or equivalent) with significant PQE, preferably also with experience in industry
• Self–motivated and resilient, able to work in a fast–paced & dynamic environment and deal with ambiguity
• Continuous improvement mindset with high attention to detail and a passion for transformation and resolving issues
• Collaborative, proactive and able to work across teams in Finance (and beyond) to drive deliverables and process improvement
• Good people manager & motivator, with experience managing large teams (>10);
• Deadline driven with a focus on "no surprises"
• Must have IFRS experience (US GAAP experience beneficial)
• Experience of SOX/Internal controls
• Strong Excel skills
• Knowledge of NetSuite or comparable general ledger system preferred
