Head of Operations / Engineering Background

Head of Operations who has a strong engineering background, thrives on delivering operational excellence and has sound experience of doing so in a lean manufacturing environment is required for a well–established company.

SALARY: up to GBP75,000 per annum + Bonus + Benefits (33 Days Annual Leave, Car Allowance and Healthcare Plan)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Head of Operations who has a strong engineering background, thrives on delivering operational excellence and has sound experience of doing so in a lean manufacturing environment.

Working as the Head of Operations you will be working through 4 or 5 direct reports and will ultimately be responsible for 35 to 40 semi–skilled and trades people in a manufacturing environment operating almost 24 hours 7 days a week.

As the Head of Operations you will join the senior leadership team and help to lead the business in bringing about significant organisational and cultural change. A good level of commercial acumen and understanding is required as well as knowledge of how to effectively manage capital expenditure and operational budgets in excess of GBP3 million.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the Head of Operations you will have the following skills and attributes:

• A strong engineering background, you will have at least level 4, and ideally level 6, knowledge of predominantly hydraulic and electrical engineering or equivalent qualification

• A good understanding of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements, gained in a heavy manufacturing environment

• The ability to help drive improvements and deliver the next important stages of growth, including planned preventative maintenance programmes

• Excellent people management skills. You will know how to bring about change through people and how to delegate effectively

• You will have proved yourself to be a credible and respected leader of multi–disciplinary teams with extensive previous experience

• A good level of commercial acumen and understanding

• A person who thrives on delivering operational excellence
