The Royal College of Art is the UK's only entirely postgraduate institution of art and design, dedicated to teaching, research and knowledge exchange with industry. Realisation of our latest strategy has seen the institution grow by 50% and in response the College is looking to expand and strengthen its professional HR team by investing in new, strategically important HR roles to influence and shape the employee experience, support and drive change and ensure excellence across all aspects of College life.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of HR as the newly created Head of Policy and Reward, through strong and professional thought leadership, you will develop a HR policy framework, author updates to existing policies and lead on the development of new policies which are aligned to the College Strategic Plan and priorities, reflective of external factors, ensuring the College remains compliant and is future focussed on the employee experience. The successful candidate will also deliver a programme of strategic projects focussed on reward; using your technical expertise to advise the College on priorities, issues and risks and the best course of action. The post holder will be responsible for developing pay, reward, benefits and performance strategy and policy which is aligned with the College Strategic Plan, which meets the ongoing and future institutional needs in relation to the pay and reward agenda across all schools and departments of the College and all levels, including the College Executive.
You will be a highly credible, senior HR professional with significant experience of designing pay structures and approaches to performance review gained in a complex and unionised environment. You will be fully conversant in approaches to job evaluation and demonstrate a strong commitment to fair and inclusive pay and reward practices.
