Group Financial Controller - Real Estate. - OUR CLIENT are a well-established and rapidly expanding real estate investment, development and management firm focusing on the UK property market. The business is actively investing in sites around the country with a 10 year business plan in place to continue their growth. As part of this expansion, they are now seeking to hire a Group Financial Controller to grow and develop their existing finance team/function. The role is responsible for the timely and accurate flow of group financial reporting, service charge management accounts, balance sheet reporting and control as well as, technical accounting and ownership of financial systems.

THE ROLE will include:
  • Managing a medium sized team of Direct and Indirect reports.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of multiple subsidiary year-end statutory accounts, leading to the production of consolidated group reports.
  • Holding primary relationship with auditors to manage the annual year end process, audit and statutory reporting.
  • Leading and contributing to ad hoc finance and business transformation projects.
  • Producing ad-hoc reporting and analysis for the CFO and the Board.
  • Management of the year-end tax reports and liaising with external tax advisors, including corporation tax, deferred tax and income tax.
  • Oversight for the timely production of group VAT and CIS returns.
  • Oversight of the service charge accounts and budgets for multiple sites.
  • Producing quarterly audit committee reports and documentation.
  • Hold primary responsibility for risk analysis for the Finance division and lead on risk group workshops and forums.
  • Oversight of staff cost analysis, forecasting and reporting in conjunction with HR.
  • Oversight of provision of 'high quality' monthly management accounts, supporting commentary and financial analysis for on-site managers.
  • Oversight of the preparation of the annual budget and long-range plan.
  • Preparing periodic financial forecasts (P&L, working capital and cashflow) and rolling forecasts.
  • Managing relationships with Operations Director and the on-site management teams.
  • Managing the restructuring of financial processes, systems and internal controls in alignment with the overall business growth.
  • Leading the implementation of new scalable finance systems to support ambitious growth plans.
  • Responsibility for managing core business applications, including system changes and access authorisation.
  • Liaising with external parties in the management of cash funding and drawdowns.
  • Responsibility for all bank accounts within the Group, including authorisation of supplier ledger payment runs and internal fund transfers.
  • Managing the development of a new and growing team, ensuring appropriate resourcing, skills and flexibility to support future growth.
THE PERSON: To apply, you MUST be a qualified accountant - ideally ACA (preferably top 10 trained) but ACCA considered with a minimum of 10 years' relevant accounts experience and with proven experience at a Group FC/Senior Finance level - ideally gained within a real estate/property business (residential exposure preferred) and with multiple sites / locations and be ACA or ACCA qualified. The successful candidate will have a strong technical accounting knowledge with experience of implementing new core business platforms and running multi-entity applications with a mindset of continuous improvements across systems and processes. The company are looking for a personable, positive and dynamic leader who works flexibly and collaboratively to achieve deadlines, with a 'hands on' attitude to get the job done. The client has an agile and flexible working policy in place but would expect the new incumbent to attend the office as much as possible in the first 5/6 months.
