As part of this growth, we are now actively seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will work alongside a small and growing team of Professional Engineers in new product development and industrialisation of all Battery markets. Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, this key position will be focused on Systems engineering activities to support company baseline products and evaluation of customer proposals. As the Lead Systems Engineer, you will have an in–depth working knowledge of standards, systems, verification and validation of battery cells, modules and packs. The ideal candidate would be able to review and write specifications, participate in customer meetings, and manage testing and analysis to support company activities.

On offer to the successful candidate is a negotiable (albeit dependent on relevant experience) basic salary, together with a full flexible benefits package.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Customer Verification and Validation of Products.
Testing, failure investigation, design of experiments and data analysis.
Review design requirements and understand regulations/standards.
Prepare technical reports and requirements documentation/software.
Work with 3rd party test houses to define and implement.
Risk assessments for test, failure & validation activities.
Integration of customer campaign requirements from materials, electrode, cells to module and pack.
Capture and track customer requirements.
Support the development of customer test specification and procedures.
System level design for Manufacture (DFM).
Conduct and peer review DFMEA Functional Safety and Risk assessments.
Complex Practical Problems Solving (PPS).
Lead a small team of Systems and validation Engineers.Qualifications & Experience ideally required:

Should ideally have a relevant Degree in Mechanical/Electrical /Electronics/Systems Engineering, or equivalent qualification (min 2:1). However, those that are time–served or offer a HNC/HND qualification in the same will certainly be considered also.
You will need to be an experienced Lead Systems Engineer with an excellent understanding of System Engineering methods, together with HV Battery design fundamentals, including specific safety standards and regulatory requirements.
You will have Management experience, leading or supervising teams of Engineers.
Experience of systems modelling & requirements management, Doors, SysML or UML is needed.
Should also be experienced in failure investigation and issue resolution, with strong hands–on technical skills.
Excellent analytical skills and Data analysis knowledge (Matlab, Python, or similar) is required.
Basic understanding of lithium–ion cell chemistry, design construction and formats. Experience in the design and development within an industrial manufacturing setting, which can be transferred to Lithium–ion Batteries would be preferred.
Willingness to travel to support external testing activities. Driving licence.
Strong communication and reporting skills.
Member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IMechE, IET, IEEE).Does this sound like you?
