As Head of Commercial Finance, you will inspire your team to deliver first class business partnering support to the business. This will involve producing accurate and timely financial management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and long-term financial projections/plans.

Description

This is a key leadership role that will provide financial and commercial support to the business. The Head of Commercial Finance will communicate effectively at all levels within the business, challenging, contributing to, and facilitating delivery of UK and Ireland business objectives, revenue, EBIT & EBITDA. They will also Deputise for Commercial Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities and Key Results Areas:

  • Leadership of the Commercial Finance team, delivering and driving outstanding performance through coaching and development development. Conducting regular 121s and performance reviews, setting clear achievable yet challenging objectives.
  • Work with Financial Controller to ensure accuracy of UK Management Accounts
  • Work with Financial Controller to fully understand and ensure accuracy of all UK Balance Sheet accounts
  • Oversee production of MI and KPIs on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, providing commentary on the exceptional variances.
  • Identify and understand any trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Work with business unit heads to develop plans to exploit opportunities and mitigate any risks in conjunction with Business Unit Heads.
  • Present results at business unit management team meetings. Provide summary commentary for Executive and Group Reporting packs.


  • Lead (both directly and through Commercial Finance team) bottom up quarterly forecasting and annual budget process for the UK business, working with Business Units heads to ensure full business engagement. Understand and provide commentary on the key drivers to budgetary success, identifying risks and opportunities.


  • Responsible for accuracy and completion of Group submissions and templates. (budgets/forecasts/monthly reporting).


  • Maintain a rolling budget/forecasting model to improve forecast accuracy and the efficiency of the budget/forecast process.


  • Leads the infrastructure capex monitoring and forecasting processes, ensuring delivery in line with plan.


  • Support the business units through the tender / bid process, providing financial analysis, proposition development and robust commercial models.


  • Support the business units through contract mobilisation to BAU, including supporting on TUPE transfers. Develop a clear understanding of individual contract specification and terms to ensure compliance. Work with contract managers to develop plans to exploit opportunities and mitigate risks. Assist in the development of business case MI to demonstrate customer savings.


  • Review Customer / Contract / Business unit profitability, working with Managers to develop cost reduction initiatives, business improvement projects and customer/contract development plans.


  • Develop flexible, competitive pricing models, responsive to market and customer demand, recognising the different business unit cost drivers; and price / margin sensitivity.


  • Leads all incentive scheme modelling and reporting, ensuring schemes are fit for purpose.


Profile

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

ACCA/CIMA Qualified or equivalent

Experience working as a key member of an operational management team

Management / leadership experience

A good working knowledge and understanding of ERP systems

Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Commercial understanding and awareness
