Are you a visionary leader in the Development space looking for a fresh challenge and the opportunity to be part of the landmark opening of a brand–new cultural space in the heart of Manchester?

Development Director

Salary GBP70–80k

12–month fixed term contract

Manchester/hybrid, or remote working where required

Full time or part time, open to discussion

Manchester International Festival (MIF) is on an exciting journey to becoming The Factory – a new organisation with ambition to Invent Tomorrow Together. Designed by internationally renowned architects, The Factory will allow year–round making and experimentation in new combinations of art forms, alongside training jobs and deep, grassroots community engagement.

Building on MIF's success, The Factory will reach across the world, physically and digitally, with extraordinary new work, and an inventive, empowering approach to co–creation.

About the role:

You'll lead the Development Team in successfully executing a fundraising strategy that will bring The Factory alive; building on MIF's existing success and helping to shape the new direction of fundraising through a transformation of festival to venue.

Leading by example through your own exceptional fundraising practice, you'll integrate and innovate a fundraising plan that works collaboratively with commercial colleagues, forging new ways of working and harnessing the collective power of brand and partnerships in all their many forms.

About the person:

  • You're a senior fundraising or development professional with the ability to identify and deliver strategic opportunities for growth across income streams (corporate sponsorship, philanthropy and trusts).
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and champion networking and relationship building across the region, creating new relationships and acting as an influential ambassador for The Factory.
  • You're an empowering motivator of people, identifying and elevating individual strengths, and inspiring a high–functioning team to excel as a whole.
  • You're also a brilliant income generator in your own right, able to operate confidently at six and seven figures.

Flexible, life and family–friendly organisation; we are open to discussing what this contract looks like to accommodate personal circumstances and geographical base. If in doubt, let's have a conversation.

To apply, please send a profile or copy of your CV initially to Amelia Lee at Charity People, recruitment partners for this opportunity. We will then send additional information about the role, and details of how to complete your application.

Deadline to apply: 9am on 30th May

Interviews: First round 6th June, second round 13th June

*Please note due to time sensitivity around The Factory opening, coupled with the pace of the current recruitment market, we may need to close early if we have a strong enough shortlist. If your personal circumstances or current diary mean this disadvantages you in anyway, please reach out and we will work with you to ensure you don't miss out as best we can.

Charity People actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion.
