Head of Manufacturing

Privately owned multi–disciplinary engineering company are looking for a Head of Manufacturing to join their highly successful business in Deeside.

The Head of Manufacturing will be key in improving production output while maintaining and improving the quality & health and safety standards. The ideal person is someone highly intelligent and dynamic, able to react to changes and form and adjust strategy quickly depending on customer and business needs.

You will be responsible for managing key internal relationships with the Manufacturing Managers / Engineering / Finance / Operations / Business Development Managers. The Head of Manufacturing will be a key component in developing and bringing high end leadership behaviours to the business & maintaining best practice throughout.

Role: Head of Manufacturing
Salary: Up to GBP70,000 per annum + benefits
Location: Deeside

The key responsibilities for the Head of Manufacturing will be:–

Coordinating production workflow for internal manufacturing
Maintain awareness of current progress and bottlenecks on critical work.
Monitoring manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand.
Proactively advising and working together with the greater team where resources are not sufficient to meet a customer deadline.
Preparing and submitting status and performance reports.
Devising and implementing processes to systematically improve output.
Develop the manufacturing team (40–50 engineers) structure and employees to continuously improve the business.
Take control of maintenance and factory improvements for improved safety, reduced downtimes and improved efficiency.
Head the recruitment process and approach for new hires, organise necessary internal and external training.
Join the Senior Team in creating and delivering the company strategy.
The Key requirements of the Head of Manufacturing will be:–

Previous experience as an Engineering Manager in a high demand dynamic environment, including experience in developing the team.
Low batch manufacturing experience (one–offs, prototypes, etc.).
Experience or at least substantial exposure to manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, CNC and manual, grinding and mechanical assembly. Alternatively experience with mechanical assembly or fabrication would still be a benefit.
Understanding of fabrication work and processes.
Experience with a management system whether in Excel or an ERP or MRP system and harnessing it to aid traceability, predictions and workflow management.
