THE ROLE
AKKA's Software team is growing thanks to successful growth and achievements over the last few years in the Space industry. The team provides a wide range of flexible support across development and test, supporting larger critical programmes for our Defence/Space customers.
The main missions consist in on–board software engineering and development of spacecrafts developed, i.e. Earth Observation, Science, and Telecommunication. As an Onboard Software engineer you will be expected to bring a wealth of knowledge along with an open "problem solving" mind. Flexibility and strategy are key to providing our consultative services and in return we can offer autonomous working environment. Parts of the position may involve mentoring and support to the wider team as your knowledge utilised as an expert in your field.
During the first month of the role you will be required to be based on–site in Portsmouth/Stevenage and after that the roles can be completely remote.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Desktop, Software Development and Validation Environment (e.g. Eclipse / Cygwin / Java
/ SVE) Configuration Management tools (Jira, Git)
• C, JAVA and UML languages
• Object–oriented methods
• RTEMS Operating System or similar Real–Time
• Technical English
• 2 to 5 in on–board software validation
• Experience with customer support dealing with people face to face
• Good time management skills and ability to work well under pressure
• Willingness to work within a consultancy environment that may require some UK based travel
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Technical Domains = Computing & Communication & Software
• Production of documents according to ECSS standards e.g. SRS, ADD, DDD, SUITP, SVS–TS,
SVS–RB, SVR and VCD
• Production components code
• Development of unit tests and validation procedures
• Execution of tests, control and results archiving
• Production of test reports
• Peer reviews
