The CompanyThis innovative data insights and publishing startup group has established itself as a market leader in its field across the European market. Having developed multiple revenue streams across digital publications, virtual events and subscription services in a short space of time, the group is focusing on new initiatives to create sustainable growth at scale to deliver a higher valuation. As a result, the group now seeks a CFO Chief Financial Officer to partner with the CEO on both strategic and operational decisions while implementing best–in–class systems and processes to support this.

Key Responsibilities of the CFO Chief Financial Officer

• Coordinate annual budgeting and reforecasting
• Work with the C–Suite team to drive commercial decision making including international expansion strategy and commercial pricing
• Develop and maintain effective financial processes, people and systems to deliver a fit for purpose finance and planning function with timely, accurate, insightful and compliant financial reporting
• Accurate cashflow forecasting and management
• Develop and optimise the company's financial systems, ensuring they are robust, compliant and will support current activities and future growth
• Develop and maintain timely, comprehensive and accurate KPIs and business reporting processes
• Nurture relationships with the bankers, organising appropriate finance facilities as the business grows
• Establish and manage company policies regarding risk management and working capital management as appropriate
• Prepare the business for potential exit and manage the financial due diligence process to ensure maximum value for shareholders
• Oversee the legal/contracting process, engaging external assistance as required. This will involve significant input into pricing and contract agreements with customers and suppliers
• Take responsibility for in–house and outsourced legal/compliance, [HR] and support functions within the business

Skills & Attributes of the CFO Chief Financial Officer

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• An understanding of the B2B media sector (digital publishing, events or subscription services) would be highly advantageous
• Prior experience in a senior finance role with a demonstrable track record of creating value for shareholders
• Significant experience of management information systems implementation, improvement and optimisation to enable better decision making at board level. Experience of creating tools that make a complex business simple to analyse and of creating a culture of transparency and accountability
• Prior experience of working in a Private Equity–backed or highly leveraged business would be ideal, given the understanding this brings of the Private Equity mind set (i.e. focus on cash and EBITDA, drive to exit, management of leverage, cost consciousness and forecasting)
• Cheerleader for collaboration who is able to make significant impact outside of a large corporate structure
