Group Financial Controller - Shared Service

FryerMiles are delighted to announce their partnership with a thriving financial services organisation who are looking to establish a group shared service centre in Edinburgh to manage their finance functions for their European entities. With this hire, the Group Financial Controller will provide the required central finance function to build out and manage the corporate finance team. As a result management experience of at least a team of 4 is required and recruitment experience is beneficial.

The role offers the right individual the exposure and responsibility to build their own team, and be directly involved in the hiring process for the accountants required in the shared services team.

This organisation has seen nothing but growth over the last few years given their immense portfolio and project sizes in Europe, with a history that spans over 25 years.

The Responsibilities of the Group Financial Controller Include:

• The development and management of constructing a shared service centre and central corporate function team
  • Recruiting, onboarding and training the accountants
• Establishing a cooperative environment with finance and non–finance stakeholders across all the entities of the group and geographies whilst providing optimum support
• Ensuring a high calibre central control function and environment with all month end balance sheet reconciliation responsibilities met with a top tier result
  • Clear and concise reporting and documentation of underlying processes and controls
• The delivery of accurate corporate financial reporting to the required individuals across the group
  • Insight, analysis and monitoring of KPIs monthly
• All ad hoc tasks and analysis required by stakeholders and key actors in the organisation with the insight into the corporate business
• Further develop and excel the financial processes through automation and efficiency to support the business growth
• Annual budgeting and monthly reforecasting processes required to support the group functions
• Internal and external audit management across the group with the responsibility of producing the financial statements and consolidated financial statements
• Tax compliance
• Monitoring and reporting the group liquidity requirements and the necessary resolutions and recommendations to support treasury function
• Supervising the AP processes and ensuring their efficiency and automation to approve and provide invoices are authorised, paid, and in time with deadlines.

The Successful Group Financial Controller Requirements:

• Be fully qualified in ACA / ACCA / CIMA
• 5+ years of PQE in a financial services / investment / wealth management environment
• 1 degree or above at an established university
• Experience across FP&A and statutory financial reporting
• Highly attentive individual with an analytical grasp to investigate and resolve discrepancies and provide an optimum understanding to stakeholders
• Great communicative and presentational skills
• A strong track record of leadership (4+) and being a team player
• Strong technical accounting competence covering IFRS and UK GAAP
• Experience of NetSuite preferable
