What we're looking for
Head of Engineering – UK North
Flexible location (Ideally within a 45 mile radius of our Glasgow or Leeds offices)
We are currently recruiting for a Head of Engineering who will help to maintain a consistent technical standard for formwork applications and promote engineering excellence, industry best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key duties:
* Actively promote and embed equality, diversity, and inclusion. Support the wellbeing and motivation of employees
* Establish, implement, and maintain a procedure for the control and measurement of a safe, competitive, and cost–effective design service
* Provide strong leadership to the technical office managers and oversee their legal and contractual duties, including the successful delivery of projects to scope, cost, quality, and programme
* Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies which minimise operational risk, maximise operational performance and deliver sustainable growth
* Support and deputise where necessary for the Engineering Director in matters of H&S compliance, industry engagement and UK representation with Global partners
* Establish, implement, and maintain a process for succession planning and talent management
* Departmental budget forecasting and control
What you'll need
Experience
* An engineering degree: BSc minimum in a Construction related subject
* Chartered Membership of an appropriate professional institution or equivalent experience is desirable
* In–depth experience and knowledge of all aspects of formwork and falsework designs, the formwork market, and competitors
* Management and development of design teams
* Proven understanding of core engineering principles
* Good working knowledge of UK Construction Industry performance standards, applicable British & European Standards, statutory regulations & wide range of construction methods
* PC literate with good knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office standard programmes
Personal attributes
* Confident, reliable, self–motivated with a flexible attitude
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to challenge constructively
* Generates professional credibility and confidence of others
* Effective team working and networking skills
* Ability to negotiate with and influence third parties
* Ability to balance multiple projects with strong organisational skill and attention to detail
