Job Purpose

Birmingham Ceremonies Limited is the production company delivering the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the largest multi–sport event to be held in England in the last 10 years.

We are looking for a creative, innovative leader who wants to bring our spectacular ceremonies to the world through digital platforms. This role is based in Birmingham and will suit someone with extensive knowledge of the area, community and location as well as having an understanding of the local digital landscape.

We want to create a social and digital presence to amplify stories that will resonate with communities across the world, including engaging new, younger audiences and utilising the best channels to reach them.

Working closely with the Birmingham 2022 organising committee this role will be a driving force in developing and delivering the digital content strategy for the Ceremonies – a strong editorial producer role which will develop our content strategy to tell the story of the Ceremonies, create innovative and exciting content and work with the Birmingham 2022 teams to ensure integration with the Games wider digital strategy and brand consistency.

This role will also inspire, motivate and lead a team of young content creators from the West Midlands who will be capturing content and preparing it for social channels in line with Birmingham 2022 brand and videography guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have an eye for current trends and be experienced in storytelling or developing a creative narrative. They may have gained experience in or have worked with agencies, including creative briefings and management of agency workload. Previous filming or editing skills (Final Cut Pro or Premier) will be useful.

They will be self–motivated and a strong leader with excellent organisation and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

* Work with the Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee to develop the digital content strategy for Ceremonies.

* Developing a plan for key pieces of content during each phase of the digital strategy using a wide spectrum of written, digital media, dynamic and interactive content.

* Working closely with the Organising Committee's brand and marketing team on brand usage and brand guidelines, ensuring sign–off is achieved in line with the brand approval process.

* Working closely with the Organising Committee's communication team to ensure messaging and the scheduling of content is integrated and in line with agreed plans.

* Working with a team of content creators, plan and oversee the production of editorial and story content for all digital channels (predominantly social media).

* Develop fresh, creative, and compelling content that connects with local, national and international audiences.

* Explore any possible amplification opportunities that links the Ceremonies to athletes, partners, the cast and crew and people at home.

* Procure and manage external designers, photographers, videographers and agencies as required to deliver the content strategy

* Identify any areas where influencers could be best utilised and manage their relationships in delivery of the content.
