FTSE 100 energy business leading the way with thermal power generation playing a major part in helping towards net zero and a sustainable world seeks a Senior Legal Counsel. The role will lead on key legal matters, engaging directly with senior management.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the leadership team to assist them in achieving their strategic priorities, offering legal advice on a range of issues and contracts including the following:
  • Handling a variety of commercial and procurement contracts covering the likes of fuel supply, power purchase, tolling, commodity trading, supply of goods and services including framework agreements, research and development, sponsorship, NDAs, co-operation, construction management, operations/maintenance and confidentiality.
  • Acting on corporate matters such as M&A, project finance and joint ventures
  • Providing ad hoc advice on a range of issues
We are looking for:
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 4 years PQE*
  • Trained with a leading law firm or inhouse
  • Strong commercial law experience ideally gained in the energy sector or with clients in that sector
  • Ability to draft commercial contracts, preferably some of those listed above
  • Corporate law experience is a benefit
  • Comfortable working independently
  • A clear and concise communicator
  • Keen to work in a high performing supportive team
