This is a role that will suit someone with a good grounding in electronic security systems, electrical installation or IT systems (Networks and Servers) who has the desire to step up into a more hands on role. This is an opportunity to be involve in working with world–class enterprise electronic security systems. In return the successful candidate will be provided with all training needed for the requirements of this role.
As a security systems engineer you will join our new site at Hinkley Point in Somerset. The position is permanent, full time, working 42.5hrs per week with occasional call out / standby responsibilities and typically working as part of a dedicated 12 person engineering team. There will be some expectation to work flexibly to meet the shift patterns of the site as when needed.
Key responsibilities
Attend to reactive fault calls as directed by the team co–ordinators and / or Senior Site Engineer, with rectification of fault on first visit being a critical KPI.
Installation of Electronic Security Systems in various buildings, including (but not limited to) extra low voltage cabling, containment (trunking), cameras, card readers, speakers, servers, equipment racks and PC's
Carry out rolling programme of preventative maintenance as scheduled by the team co–ordinators and / or Senior Site Engineer.
Carry out additional installation and commissioning works as directed by team co–ordinators and / or Senior Site Engineer.
Assist Senior Site Engineer and Technical Lead in the pre–production test environment before release into the live environment.
Assist the Design Team in conducting surveys around the site for additional works.
Accurate collection and recording of site hardware and software configuration information in conjunction with the CAD Engineer.
Maintain site stock (spares) levels.
Maintain accurate and timely records.
Provide cover on an out of hour's basis on a rotating basis.
Assist the site based Health and Safety Lead and Project Director in ensuring audits are carried out for quality procedures.
In conjunction with the Senior Site Engineer and Health & Safety Manager, to assist in the production of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and other documentation as required to gain Permits to Work in a timely manner
To proactively interact with other site based teams, building a good rapport, ensuring the smooth flow of information to enable the efficient running of the site operation.
To work in absolute compliance with all site procedures and embrace the customer's 'Zero Harm to People and the Environment' mantra.
Carry out any additional tasks that may be require
IT or Electrical/Electronic qualification such as a HND or Degree.
Key skills
:A minimum of 2 years' experience in the maintenance, configuration and support of Server Hardware, Network Infrastructure, Firewalls and VPNs, Virtual Hosts (VMWare & Hyper–V), Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS & DHCP, Backup and recovery systems
Or
Experience within electrical installation environment (eg. IT Systems, M&E Installations, Control Panel Manufacturing, Security Systems.
In addition:
Broad IT knowledge, eg. IP based systems and networking principles.
Knowledge of basic electrical principals such as measuring voltage, resistance and current.
Basic knowledge of electrical components such as relays and resistors.
Some Experience of working within the Mechanical/Electrical Construction Industry
Experience installing and / or servicing a wide product base within the electronic security industry.
Previous or current clearance to SC level
