A bit about the role...

This senior team role will constitute an exciting opportunity for an experienced (>5 years ) commercial property consultant/surveyor to work within a small team to develop office rationalisation plans that encourage more cost effective and efficient office estate.

You will support the short and longer–term development of the NHS office property portfolio rationalisation plans by engaging with our customers, tenants, occupiers and other stakeholders, at a senior level to drive the efficient and effective use of our part of the NHS estate.

The core principle of the role will be to seek to understand National and Local requirements for office accommodation, at local geographic and wider customer level, to support assessment of options around NHS Property Services' and their customers property portfolio to ensure that the estate is occupied on an optimal basis, correctly specified to support customer needs, delivers best value and is fit for purpose to support customer needs.

The programme objectives are as follows:

  1. Achieve a flexible, well utilised and cost effective estate
  2. Achieve significant running cost savings over 5 years
  3. Link with wider Public Sector office estate
  4. Follow a common, simple, programme approach
  5. Promote collaboration amongst health users
  6. Support flexible working practices
  7. Achieve a position where there are fewer more significant office holdings

The recommendations provided will drive decision making and gain commitment from stakeholders around decisions around transactions, which will involve property exits, lease regears, lease renewals and acquisitions and relocation's.

The role requires strong property, business, political and financial acumen. Clear communication and an understanding of client requirements balanced against a detailed understanding of the commercial property market will be essential. Such skills should be applied to provide pragmatic solutions to deliver savings and the optimal outcome against client objectives, whilst balancing effectively the interests of NHS Property Services and the needs of the wider health and social care system.

A bit about you...

To succeed in this position, candidates must have extensive knowledge of property strategies and strategic asset management across a broad portfolio of diverse properties, as well as experience in working on diverse programmes, including options analysis, and assessment of disposal, lease restructure and development opportunities. Strong knowledge of providing and procuring professional services in commercial property is critical.
