The HR Business Partner is accountable for equipping people managers with the appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people, in line with the People Strategy and departmental planning. The accountabilities of the HR Business Partner cover the scope of performance management, leadership development, absence management, talent acquisition, workforce planning, equality, diversity, and inclusion, change and transformation and people engagement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

* Working in partnership with the Senior Strategic HR Business Partner to manage and lead on employee relations issues, ensuring high levels of employee engagement, ensuring wellbeing of all parties throughout the process.
* Demonstrable knowledge of employment legislation when managing ER cases.
* Working closely with the People Services team to monitor, interpret and implement all new and revised legislation relating to the service delivery.
* Lead the planning and implementation of changes required including developments to policy and procedure in line with legislation; ensuring that significant changes are communicated to all.
* Alongside the Learning and Development Manager and the Senior Strategic HR Business Partner, support the business areas with the management development of their people, providing advice, guidance, and ad–hoc training on PPDRs, introduce systems that identify employees with high potential, develop career paths in consideration of key roles for succession planning, talent management and self–development.
* Using HR metrics and analysis to inform and improve our practice, determining trends within areas which need to be reviewed further.
* Building management responsibility and capability for managing ER/IR (where appropriate) issues and improve the effectiveness of consultation.
* Create, deliver, and embed agreed change initiatives, liaising with HR colleagues as appropriate to leverage best practice.
* Lead on the organisations annual progression schemes and processes.
* Supporting and managing flexible working requests, OH referrals, etc. as and when required.
* Working closely with the Senior Strategic HR Business Partner and external parties to deliver wellbeing initiatives in line with the organisations objectives.
* Working proactively with the Senior Strategic HR Business Partner to lead on the organisations Redeployment process with the aim of minimising risk to the organisation.
* Supporting the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Committee to promote equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of the organisation
* Supporting the Head of HR and the Senior Strategic HR Business Partner with developing talent management and succession planning schemes.
* Continuously seeking improvement to achieve higher levels of efficiency, customer service and effectiveness.

The candidate

* Excellent knowledge of HR including employment law and dispute resolution
* Significant experience of advising line management on a full range people related matters
* Experience of working and influencing people managers on people related issues
* Achieved or studying towards CIPD qualification
* Excellent in managing multiple employee relations issues
* Identifies opportunities for collaborative working inside and outside the organisation
* Excellent communication skills – the ability to explain complex and technical information clearly and simply
* Experience of working with sensitive data, analytics and information underpinned by an excellent knowledge of data protection/GDPR principles.
* Up to date knowledge of employment law, practices, case law and applies this to the workplace to develop HR policy & practice to meet business and legislative requirements
