The successful candidate will be an experienced multidrop transport planner with at least 3 years transport planning experience who is looking to further their career into management.

The successful candidate will cost effectively plan and manage drivers daily schedules to maximise productivity and ensure costs are controlled, answer any queries from drivers and our customers in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will be motivated, committed, customer focussed and ready to roll up their sleeves to help grow the business. Due to the nature of the operation, the candidate will be expected to work some unsociable hours, which would include weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking for an individual who is flexible with their approach to work, has a great eye for detail but is able to see the bigger picture of a problem in front of them, and is an excellent team player.

This is a busy role and constantly changing environment, requiring a multi–tasking approach to managing the workload with effective organisational and planning skills.

The candidate must be outgoing, physically fit, think on their feet, an effective problem solver with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Transport Planning Role:

Receiving orders directly from the Customer, processing orders on company bespoke systems, strong attention for detail is essential.

Organising and planning drivers and loads, ensuring loads are delivered accurately and on time, whilst maintaining a high quality customer service and in the most cost–effective way.

Ensuring that the scheduling of work is accurate and up to date, planning driver schedules to optimise working hours for greater efficiency.

Maintaining contact with the drivers throughout the day as a means of ensuring smooth flow of operations.

Resolving customer and drivers queries over the phone, by email and in person.

Consciously upholding excellent customer service levels at all times, ensuring all interactions with the customer are conducted in a professional manner.

Reporting to HR the absence from work of allocated drivers and warehouse staff.

Tracking of drivers and vehicles, including the monitoring of driver's hours and breaks ensuring compliance is met.

Responding to requests placed for the fleet from the workshop to ensure the smooth running of the operation and adherence to Inspections/MOT schedules.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of;

5 GCSE's at grade C and above including Maths and English

BTEC National Diploma or 2 A Levels – desirable

Office 365, MS word and Excel competent.

Transport Managers CPC or working towards this

Knowledge and Skills Required;

A can do problem solving attitude.

Ability to meet challenging deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Strong planning and organisational skills.

Tact, diplomacy and calmness when dealing with drivers, customers and the general public.

Can demonstrate great teamwork.

An up–to–date knowledge of relevant legislation as in WTD, drivers hours and drivers infringements

Excellent geographical knowledge and experience of routing vehicles is essential.

Full UK Licence
