Does your successful track record of managing finance teams at a senior level include managing a treasury function that included investments, liquidity and cash flow forecasting? Are you looking for a fresh challenge in an environment that’s open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London as Associate Director – Financial Operations.
It’s a particularly exciting time here at the University as, under our current 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, we’re committed to providing students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our Finance teams play their part by delivering a comprehensive range of financial services to the University to cover all aspects of financial compliance, plus pro-active financial support to Schools, Services, staff and students, thereby ensuring value for money is achieved.
Join us as an Associate Director - Financial Operations and you could soon be leading and managing the work and development of our Financial Accounting, Income and Credit Control teams, and much more. Indeed, we’ll look to you to provide support to the Director of Finance in order to transform the Finance teams via a new system implementation, business processes review and staff development, thus enabling a more efficient and customer-focused Finance function. Along the way, you’ll also get to pro-actively work with all areas of the university to ensure effective financial decision making contributes to the provision of value for money. Overseeing the management of the University’s income stream, developing and maintaining a suitable cash flow forecasting model, advise colleagues across the university on taxation, corporate, finance, legal and other business considerations and ensuring group wide compliance with statutory requirements – all are aspects of this challenging role.
In addition to a professional accounting qualification (ideally CCAB), the post holder will have proven experience of introducing and adapting business processes, systems and structures in order to improve organisational performance. The post holder will have experience producing statutory accounts, liaising with internal and external audit and managing year end processes.
Computer literacy, with evidence of involvement in the implementation and development of accounting and other finance software, is important too. Familiarity with Agresso accounting software would be an advantage. Crucially, you’re someone who communicates confidently and clearly with a wide range of people at all levels, and are as comfortable producing reports as you are giving presentations or interpreting financial and business data for audiences without a finance background. What’s more, you’re great at prioritising your own workload and that of others in order to address important issues and meet deadlines, have excellent analytical skills, a logical and structured approach to completing tasks and a proactive approach to problem solving.
So, if you have what we are looking for and are keen to take on a high profile, finance management role, get in touch.
At the University of East London, we aim to attract and retain the best possible staff and offer a working environment at the heart of a dynamic region with excellent transport links. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome, genuine camaraderie and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility and purpose. Your impact, resilience and sense of collegiality will directly contribute to the University’s future and those of the students whose lives you will touch and change.
CVs without a completed application form will not be accepted.
At UEL we are committed to working together to build a community which values diversity in both our staff and student populations, is representative and inclusive, enabling all to progress and thrive.
