Interim Solicitor

REED Legal is working with the local authority in a search for an Interim Child Protection Solicitor. This vacancy will run for 6 months with an option to extend.

This role is remote, but some travel might be required for hearings. The local authority has been signed up to the Family Court digital programme, therefore they have been running electronic bundles over the last 6 years. This role will be inside IR35 and is looking to pay at around GBP50 per hour. You will be provided a laptop, second portable screen and associated kit to remote work.

The job purpose:

• To provide legal advice, guidance and representation to customers of Legal Services with particular emphasis on Child Protection & Child related law and Adult Social Care and subject to service demand and direction any of the legal disciplines covered by the section

The key responsibilities would include:

• Managing a personal caseload providing expert legal advice, support assistance and advocacy by reference to the Job Purpose
• Acting on behalf of the customers in legal proceedings and to attend and advice at meetings both internal and external, as required
• Maintaining an awareness of legal developments, practice, service delivery or the political direction of the Authority and if necessary to escalate such issues
• Working proactively, flexibility and where appropriate, collaboratively to achieve continuous service improvements

The right person will:

• A qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate
• Have knowledge of the statutory and governance frameworks relating to Local Authorities
