Our Operate business helps organisations transform and run complex operational processes that often create challenges and hinder their progress. Harnessing the power of tech and data to drive performance, Operate brings together innovative minds with a distinctive mix of subject matter knowledge and operational skills to deliver results that make the difference. We work with some of the most recognisable organisations worldwide in delivering large scale operational programmes and managed solutions. Underpinning all of this is our commitment to ensuring our people are equipped with tomorrow's skills to drive success for our clients today.

The Role

We've invested GBP40m into the creation of our Advanced Research and Engineering Centre in Belfast, part funded by Invest NI. We're creating a team of engineers and technologists who'll work within a bigger innovation ecosystem, including government, University academia and business, to help our clients take giant leaps, rather than incremental steps.

This role sits within our ARC management and delivery team delivering real–world operational technology – either from scratch or by adapting PwC and third–party technology.

As Project Manager, responsibilities will include;

  • Own, drive and support exciting research, engineering and software development projects from discovery to delivery.
  • Guiding cross functional and diverse teams to deliver objectives, outputs and build digital products.
  • Contributing towards elements of the business case.
  • Ensuring shared clarity of scope, good estimating, planning and management of risk.
  • Owning the production of a Project Management Plan (PMP) to deliver software solutions or equivalent documents to reach an agreement with stakeholders and managing your teams to the plan.
  • Defining team member roles, setting expectations, and ensuring timely feedback.
  • Ensuring appropriate tools are deployed and that methods and practices are implemented and followed for a successful outcome.
  • Developing and reviewing estimates and assumptions for the project's resources and costs.
  • Measuring and monitoring progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Working alongside other leads to develop, implement, and maintain the Management Plan, including the configuration management, risk management, project measurement, change and quality management plans.
  • Working with Scrum Masters and Team Leaders across development, testing and release to ensure successful delivery.
  • Managing relationships and coordinating work between different teams at different locations.
  • Representing the project team at meetings and obtaining buy–in from senior management.

Skills and experience

  • Experience as a Project Manager with knowledge of project management techniques and tools in a software development environment.
  • Experience of working on either technology, product, software development, or digital transformation projects.
  • Experience of working cross functionally within an organisation
  • Ability in planning, risk management and change management
  • Ability to plan and organise between waterfall and agile and blend the approach when required.
  • Ability to lead and coach others.
