"The Money and Pension Service (MaPS) is looking for a Deputy Head of Corporate Strategy to join their team.

Your role will be the coordination and development of the MaPS Corporate Strategy, working collaboratively with leaders across the organisation and key external stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategic direction and implementation.

The Deputy Head of Corporate Strategy will be responsible for managing and supporting in the following areas;

  • Work with MaPS leadership community, Executive Leadership Team, Board and key stakeholders (incl. DWP and HMT) to define, draft, design and publish MaPS long–term and one–year corporate plan.
  • Design components of the corporate strategy to deliver MaPS legal and policy mandate, its corporate mission and priorities, and ensure alignment to Government priorities.
  • Ensure MaPS corporate strategy and approach is based on thorough analysis of internal and external relevant data, insights and stakeholder engagement.
  • Establish and coordinate a system and process that allows for a controlled and comprehensive approach to strategy development with MaPS and be responsible for evolving its professionalism and maturity. Coordinate the 'Corporate Strategy Community' – an internal community of practice – to ensure alignment of strategy development across MaPS.
  • Work and collaborate with colleagues and key external stakeholders to secure buy–in, including MaPS Board, DWP, HMT, the Devolved Administration Sub–Committee, the MaPS Advisory Group.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the implementation and execution of the corporate strategy and plan to ensure alignment, including reviewing business cases, supporting change management through the Portfolio and Change Committee, and helping to identify and resolve key strategic risks and issues.

The Deputy Head of Corporate Strategy will need to have the following skills and experience:

  • Strategic thinking, leadership and creativity as well as broad subject matter expertise in similar challenging environments with strong policy and operational focus. Able to anticipate strategic challenges and the implications on the organisation, establish the long–term strategic impact of decisions, and identify and break down silos in thinking.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with proven track record of building trusted relationships, collaborating and enabling enterprise / system leadership through negotiation, adaptability and influencing. Able to network effectively at all levels (internally and externally) and influence without direct management oversight.
  • Strong experience of creating and facilitating strategic development, including developing and assessing options, influencing direction at an organisational or major programme level, and informing implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem–solving skills using a variety of methods, such as conceptual models, logical reasoning and data / numerical analysis, and able to act with proportionality by balancing robustness with pragmatism.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal, written and visual), able to draft publishable documents at pace and to summarise complex issues confidently, succinctly and with clarity. With the ability to credibly advise and influence Executive and Board–level stakeholders and adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • Leadership experience of inspiring, supporting and developing an inclusive culture within diverse teams.
