Summary of Role:
As a leading International Defence and Security prime, Raytheon UK is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer, Directed Energy Weapons. This role demands extensive experience and expertise in cutting edge technologies delivered into new and innovative defence capabilities. As Principal Systems Engineer, Directed Energy Weapons, you will be accountable for providing subject matter expertise to drive both the technology roadmap strategy and product development through programme execution. You will report into the Head of Engineering for Weapons. This means that you will be a key contributor and senior member of the Weapons Engineering team.
Main Duties
•The Principal Systems Engineer, Directed Energy Weapons shall provide domain expertise and technical oversight to system development and integration teams..
•Develop and maintain technology roadmaps, risk management plans and strategies for future growth in Direct Energy Weapons.
•Establish relationships with key/strategic customers representing Engineering's Technical Executive to the customer.
•Define and participate in resolution of systemic issues that affect technical execution.
•Provide technical interface with programme and senior leadership teams.
•Remain informed of current and emergent Directed Energy Weapon technologies, industry developments, and programmes to maintain engineering excellence, innovation and cost reduction.
•Perform engineering studies and analysis associated with Directed Energy Weapon systems and oversight of specifications, procedures and standards that will be applicable across all relevant programs.
•Support Business Development with customer liaison and in the preparation of bids and proposals.
•Provide independent assessment and guidance at Design Review and Technical Review Boards.
•Ensure that engineering practices and procedures are maintained in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Senior technical leadership experience, including but not limited to the following:
•Experience of recent Directed Energy Weapon programme experience
•In–depth technical knowledge and experience with existing and future Directed Energy Weapon systems and their capabilities.
•Demonstrated competency for strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
•Successfully developed and implemented Directed Energy Weapon systems in established and new environments using new and emerging technologies.
•Extensive experience in systems engineering and guidance of multidiscipline, high–performance teams (cross–functional experience highly desirable).
•Demonstrated competency in relating efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
•Proven ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team and ability to advise programme teams and stakeholders.
•Broad based technical background with experience in systems design and integration.
Desirable:
•Previously held a Senior Engineering Leadership post.
•Significant experience within UK/US International defence industry.
•Endorsed CVE signatory in a relevant engineering field.
•Chartered Engineer and member of relevant Engineering Professional Institution.
•Must be willing and eligible to hold SC security clearance and possibly obtain DV clearance if required.
