Join the UK team in a business which has that true agile start up feel, somewhere values driven where you can build your career and manage the end to end Finance function. This role is a pivotal role, and a key member of the senior management team in the financial and operational management of the UK.
The position can be based out of either London or Edinburgh, and would suit a candidate with an entrepreneurial spirit who would like to be involved across all finance functions of a business. The role requires someone to be able to see the bigger picture as well as understand the importance of detail and finance administration. The role will provide you a unique and interesting financial management environment, requires an understanding of the financial needs of a business operating within the UK Higher Education sector.
A day in the life?
Monthly reporting and analysis on financial performance and KPIs of the UK numbers to the senior management team in the UK and the Board in Australia.
Working closely with Head Office to comply with group finance policy and procedure.
Producing quarterly and annual budgets and financial forecasting cycles
Management of all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting and revenue recognition
Cash flow management, including forecasting and cash collection
Working with heads of departments to identify and explain variances on a monthly basis
Working with senior management to identify and address operational improvement and efficiency opportunities
Provide regular reports to a range of stakeholders including OES UK and OES Australia.
Develop financial business cases for proposed new business offerings such as new degree programmes.
Provide financial analysis and advice on existing initiatives, identifying and tracking key KPIs
Highlight and provide insights on key financial risks and opportunities.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of OES's regulatory and audit requirements
Oversee audit schedule and ensure audit requirements are fulfilled including but not limited to annual returns/filings and VAT returns
Support OES UK MD and UK management team, ensuring effective and appropriate interaction with the wider OES Group
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Requirements
Fully qualified accountant (CA, CIMA) with demonstrated experience in financial control and financial management.
Experience of the university education sector or a business undertaking B2C sales and marketing would be an advantage.
Strong excel skills.
An ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) appropriately to both finance and non–finance specialist colleagues.
Strong analytical ability and focus.
A strong understanding of financial control and business performance management.
The confidence to interact with senior management and an ability to leverage influence across teams and cultures.
The ability to assist in decision making in a complex environment, with an understanding of materiality, and an ability to prioritise effectively.
