The Electronics / Systems Engineer (Navigation Sensors) will be joining a small technical group within the business, who are responsible for the specification, assessment and procurement of Navigation Sensors, such as inertial technology and satellite navigation equipment.

This role would suit an Electronics, Systems or Physics Engineer, as the company are able to offer training and development, gaining a detailed understanding of navigation sensor technologies!

This is an exciting opportunity where you will take a key role in several multi–national research programmes, you will be involved in work which is technically challenging, innovative and rewarding.

Overview of Responsibilities / Skills

As the Electronics / Systems Engineer, you will be working to develop new and innovative solutions to address complex customer requirements. You will develop expertise in navigation sensors and their integration into the systems using both conventional and cutting–edge technologies.
Monitoring supplier and technology roadmaps and identifying cutting edge and future technologies for investment.
Supporting sub assembly and equipment assessment trials as part of an international team.
Undertake research and design activities as part of an international team.
Collaborating with suppliers and researchers for the development and maturation of new and emerging technology.
Carry out or support investigations into engineering problems, present conclusions and recommendations and identify and highlight trends and emerging issues.
Keep up to date in relevant technical areas and develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services, seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve own practices.
Project manage and deliver work packages on time, on cost and on quality.
Designing and conducting laboratory tests.

Experience needed:

Ideally qualified to degree–level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.
Experience across Electronics Engineering.
Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Able to plan and control your work
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Experience in a relevant engineering industry
Basic understanding of project management processes
Appreciation of system design & integration challenges

Desirable:

Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
Experience with good systems engineering practices
Modelling skills including proficiency with tools such as MATLAB would be desirable, but not essential
