Marks Sattin are currently working with a major UK manufacturing business to assist in the recruitment of a Senior Cost Accountant. This is a new role within the business and will be spear heading a new team which will report directly into the MD. In this role you will be looking across the whole business at how they can make cost efficiencies.

Excellent organisational and analytical skills. Detail oriented. Strong problem-solving skills. Work comfortably under pressure. Deliver on tight deadlines. Keen interest in the cost-efficient operations. Outstanding presentation and report-writing skills. Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document the cost accounting system and records of the business.
  • Analyse costs within each department and recommend cost savings.
  • Review processes and procedures within each department and recommend improvements.
  • Record and report on the effectiveness of any changes that have been implemented.
  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
  • Analyse any changes in raw materials to determine what effect it has on the cost.
  • Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
  • Conduct physical stocktakes and internal audit checks.


Skills:
  • Recognised professional qualifications ICAEW / ACCA CIMA.
  • 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience (essential).
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Solid cost systems background.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent report-writing, communication, and IT skills.
