The Finance Business Partner is an integral part of the finance team and will be responsible for the accounting related to our clinical trials, R&D and will support the general accounting.

The client is a mutli–national biotechnology company.

Description

  • All aspects of clinical trial accounting, primarily: identifying and quantifying clinical expenditure, ensuring expenditure is budgeted and approved, ascertaining WIP, managing self–billing process, reconciling expenditure to clinical trial database, supporting the clinical operations team.
  • Accurately estimating and accrual of clinical & fees and services by working closely with the Clinical Operations teams, contract research organizations and other related vendors, to understand contractual terms and incurred activities
  • All aspects of non–clinical R&D accounting primarily: identifying and quantifying R&D expenditure, ensuring expenditure is budgeted and approved, ascertaining WIP, reconciling expenditure to work orders, supporting the R&D operations team.
  • Liaison between Finance and Operations regarding the periodic activity under review
  • Ensuring accurate month–end close accruals for all research and development activity
  • Review, forecast and creation of annual contract budgets and submitting costs proposals
  • Supporting expense forecasting and budget planning
  • Supporting the completion of financial statement fluctuation analysis and reviewing of actual v planned expenditure with budget holders
  • Resolving contractual matters and liaise with stakeholders directly as situations arise
  • Supporting interim and year end audit process (internal and external)
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce the accounting close process, enhance existing procedures and opportunities to improve the utilization of our financial system tools
  • Preparing and ensuring current standard operating procedures for assigned areas

Assisting the Corporate Controller and other members of the finance team on ad hoc projects, as required.

Profile

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent), with demonstrable post qualified experience working in industry (ideally within the Life Science sector)
  • Familiarity with clinical trial accounting a plus
  • Superior analytical and modeling skills including advanced proficiency in Excel and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze data sets and build reports
  • Strong work ethic including sound judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Robust attention to detail with a solutions orientated, pragmatic, flexible and diligent approach
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively, with exceptional cross–functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially in Excel. Practical experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus.
