Our client is a global early–stage venture capital fund with an impressive track record of investing in technology, with a number of unicorn investments to date. They are highly ambitious and look set to continue to grow rapidly, and have recently opened their new London HQ; this is a new role, sitting in the finance function, working closely with the CFO as the Financial Controller.

You will be a chartered accountant with extensive post–qualified experience working in private equity or venture capital, with a strong understanding of the industry and experience in improving and running a corporate function. You will autonomously run the corporate function, building it out from its infancy, implementing a centralised approach and managing third parties to facilitate the firms continued success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage team and outsourced providers workloads effectively to ensure deliverables are met
  • Manage the consolidation process for the group and prepare the consolidated financial statements
  • Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts and of long– and short–term forecasts
  • Preparation of monthly management reports; including comparisons and commentary and of annual statutory accounts
  • Management of the annual budget process and provision of monthly forecasts
  • Managing and overseeing expenses including policy developments and compliance
  • Preparation of quarterly departmental budget reports and commentary for department heads
  • Ensuring local finance reporting/regulatory reporting requirements are met
  • Preparation of VAT returns or equivalent in other offices
  • Drafting and roll out of Finance related policies as and when required

YOUR PROFILE:
  • Qualified chartered accountant with extensive post–qualified experience working within Private Equity/Venture Capital, with a good understanding of the industry and its regulatory regime
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Finance or other relevant degrees
  • Experience with consolidation process and preparation of group financial statements
  • Analytical, methodical and highly numerate
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Autonomous, quality and results orientated, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Reliable, determined, hardworking and ambitious
