Who we are looking for:
An ambitious Financial Controller to be responsible for the financial reporting of its European entities, based at our head office in Manchester. The role has direct responsibility for 5 managers who cover Financial Accounts, Commercial Finance and Transactional Services, encompassing a total team of c. 30. The role reports to the Finance Director and has full responsibility for the financial control & reporting of our European sites covering UK, Ireland & Germany, maintaining close links with our Shanghai & US finance teams.

Responsibilities
- Reporting and budgeting: Monthly financial reporting including MI for Group board reporting, with overall responsibility for p&l, balance sheet, cash flow and working capital items. Co-ordination and direct responsibility of the annual budgeting process and required reforecasts, within set timeframes. Responsibility for reporting on financial KPIs within the business
- Management: Manage, develop and grow a dynamic, fast paced team including commercial finance, financial reporting, financial accounts & transactional, in line with the growth and development of the business. Drive regular updates on team internal KPIs
- Process and systems: Ownership and development of finance systems, proactive in identifying and implementing process & efficiency improvements within the department, and those needed to support the wider business operations.
- Audit and Accounting: Manage the year end audit for the European entities, incl statutory reporting packs, liaise directly with external audit team. Work with senior finance team & Group on complex and judgemental accounting, ensure accounting policies are aligned and risks effectively managed. Recommend changes within the wider business to ensure we are always moving forward and mitigating any risks
- Compliance and financial control: Ownership and proactive development of ‘best in class’ control environment, including responsibility for the intercompany process and regular review of balance sheet reconciliations; liaise with Group Internal Audit function, responsibility for overseeing payroll including working directly with overseas local advisors
- Tax and treasury: Manage cashflow and working capital requirements, including 13 week cash flow and forecasts, currency needs & exposure. Provide ad-hoc support on tax related matters.
- Ideally a qualified accountant with a track record of managing and developing an ambitious finance team. Candidates will be confident, assertive, and proactive, with the ability to build rapport and effectively communicate across all levels.
- Experience of managing internal stakeholders at a mid & senior level is key, as is understanding the importance of financial controls.
- Teamwork is essential in this role, as you need to ensure colleagues across a number of sites hit required deadlines. Therefore, you must be team orientated and able to maintain positive and supportive relationships with your colleagues at all times.
- Experience of reporting at corporate level is desirable, as is managing a large billing team.
- Previous experience in a fast moving finance environment is essential.
- Effective organizational ability and time management skills are crucial, and you must be able to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to perform the role with a customer-focused outlook, always aware of who our internal customers are and striving to provide the best possible service to them.
