This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in taking the lead for a region, division, or business unit within the geo–environmental, ground improvement or stabilisation, geotechnical, ground engineering, foundations, remediation or contaminated land sectors.

Our client is a multi–disciplinary environmental consultancy, specialising in environmental claims management, ground verification and monitoring, remediation, incident response and contaminated land projects across the UK.

They have an excellent reputation for the successful management of complex environmental incidents for commercial clients in the construction, energy, chemical, industrial and agricultural markets offering design and implantation of in situ remediation programmes on often challenging brownfield sites. They also offer a wide range of soil and groundwater remediation treatments, and additionally the design of sustainable environmental based solutions to the public sector, property developers, construction contractors, coupled with the chemical and petrochemical industry. Their commitment to restoration and reinstatement works differentiates them from their competitors in the marketplace.

The business is represented throughout the UK by a network of regional offices, each offering a full portfolio of project and service disciplines. This enables them to provide all their clients with the most efficient, reliable, and value–engineered solution, regardless of a project size of location. Our client has all appropriate UK, European and International industry standards to ensure safety, procurement and working practices are adhered to at all times.

Due to continued growth, new investment and a significant forward order workload, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Director.

The role will provide support to the Group Managing Director, and will take control of all operations, projects, contracts and teams across the UK. This will be successfully achieved through effective management and servicing associated clients, and the focus upon maintaining net margins and a high level of staff morale and satisfaction, whilst liaising closely with the main board in providing regular progress and general business reporting.

The Role

* To direct all operations and regions with a hands–on approach to the day–to–day activities

* To develop and implement strategic operational plans for the business ensuring that all goals are either achieved or bettered with an emphasis upon service delivery; and to effectively manage all activities in relation to construction, staff, and HSEQ

* To act as a focal point for the business, steering and guiding operations forward, ensuring full client liaison and increasing service levels and delivery focus

* Working with the commercial team to ensure effective cash flow management

* Producing accurate reports for the main board

* Hold regular review meetings with all teams across the UK to develop a proactive focus upon quality, overheads, manpower, programming, organisation, and delivery aspects

* Enhance the supply chain and sub–contractor partnering process where necessary

* To ensure a high level of teamwork and cohesion between all levels of staff and managers

* To chair and direct regular meetings to discuss progress, and liaise with the main board regarding operating policy, enhanced process, increased productivity and opportunities for continued expansion

Requirements

* A proven track record in hands on leadership from within a recognized consultant or contractor from the aforementioned disciplines

* Extensive experience within a variety of techniques and service offerings

* To have run operations, regions, business units or divisions with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, coupled with a hands–on attitude to clients, sub–contractors, and people management

* To have had first–hand experience of operations leadership at a senior level, and therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach to achieving set criteria and objectives

* To have experience of a variety of operations, including multiple faceted turnkey projects

* Must possess an excellent understanding of the project lifecycle process, with the ability to manage and develop operations both technically and commercially

* Able to demonstrate a career of steady progression, climbing through the ranks in a structured manner with reputable organisations

* Good levels of experience at both pre and post contract stage
