Commercial Services Group are looking for an interim Solicitor with a background in contracts and procurement.
This role will involve advising and dealing with all legal matters relating to UK and EU contract and public procurement law, related governance and other general legal matters affecting the Council.
The right candidate must be Admitted Solicitors, Barristers or Fellows of CILEX qualified in England and, in the case of solicitors, hold (or be able to obtain) a current practising certificate.
Significant experience of giving legal advice on and drafting straightforward and complex documentation relating to all contracts and procurement matters, related governance and other general legal matters affecting the Council is essential.
Other responsibilities include:
Prepare and approve reports for, and to attend to give legal and procedural advice at, including in relation to complex and highly complex matters, the Executive, any Committee or Members of such Executive and such Committees, Sub–Committees, Working Parties and other groups of Members or Officers as may be required, to enable decisions to be taken and implemented in accordance with the law and the Council's Constitution.
Exercise judgement, as to whether specialist legal advice and/or assistance is required and instruct Counsel in such cases as may be approved by the Principal Solicitor (Litigation) to enable decisions to be taken and implemented in accordance with the law
