RM Recruit are working with a West Midlands based Multi Academy Trust to recruit a Chief Operating Officer for their Senior Leadership Team. We are seeking sector experienced professionals to add value as a key member of a strong, forward–focused, and hands–on leadership team and work with the CEO and Trustees to contribute to its continuing success and support further growth. This post will see you hold overall responsibility for the MAT Support Team, Leadership/Management of all managerial and administrative staff (excluding Finance), HR, IT, Data, Marketing & Communications, Health and Safety, Estates, Governance and Corporate Services.
The prime directive for the COO is to facilitate the best possible educational environment by successfully mitigating any barriers to achieving academic goals, thus optimising the capacity of Principals and their teams by ensuring they are supported in their work.
The remit of the role will include, but not be limited to:
* Taking the lead in maintaining the wellbeing and engagement of staff across the Trust
* Lead on the development and operation of Human Resource Policies and Procedures and ensure compliance with all relevant employment law
* Devise and implement the strategy for the Trust's support services, including staff structures, administrative functions, processes, procedures, and performance measures
* Keeping the Trust updated on legislative changes and ensuring compliance
* Line management of senior support staff and leading on the Trust's Development and Investment Plan
* Establish clear accountability for Health & Safety management across the Trust; reporting risks and mitigations to the CEO and Board
* Play a leading role in external communications including PR activities
* Line manages the Corporate Services Manager in managing governance across the Trust
* Risk management and mitigation, strengthening control, ensuring that the CEO, Principals and Trustees are informed of risks and issues and that these are being managed appropriately
* The provision and strategic analysis of timely, accurate and valid performance information to the CEO and SLT
* Play a leading role in the development and investment plan for the Trust as a whole to allow optimum investment in pupils education.
* Support the Chief Financial Officer in the development the three and five–year financial plans and individual academy budgets
* Optimisation of grant funding opportunities and ensure that funding is appropriately administered and compliant with DfE guidelines.
* Work with the CFO on developing commercial contracts and procurement procedures for the Trust to follow
* Support the CEO and CFO to ensure Trust compliance with the Academies Financial Handbook.
* Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements
* Lead the development, delivery and monitoring of the annual development and investment plan to achieve objectives in each operational area.
* Developing innovative and well–thought–out recruitment campaigns to attract key talent to the Trust
* Development and maintenance of strong networks between the academies and support staff teams to ensure that all professional support services contribute to academy planning and support the Trust's requirements
* Central lead on safeguarding processes relating to; child protection, health, safety and security, equal opportunities, confidentiality, and data protection
