Join our team

Play a key role in leading, developing and overseeing the risk management processes across ICAEW.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the risk management strategy and framework at organisation and departmental level across the organisation.
  • Work with the Leadership Team in developing and building a risk awareness culture and an understanding of the value of risk management in ICAEW across all levels and teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the Leadership Team, ICAEW Senior Managers, Audit Committee, Internal Audit and Key Stakeholders across the organisation to ensure Principal, Corporate and Departmental risks are appropriately identified and managed.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Lead an ongoing programme to drive a more strategic approach to risk, ensuring that risk management is fully integrated with ICAEW’s strategy and planning and that risk management approaches are fully embedded in operations.
  • Ensure a proactive approach to identifying risks and their impact on the organisation, advise and support the Leadership Team and risk owners in discharging their risk management responsibilities, and ensure the organisation operates within an agreed risk appetite.
  • Ensure all staff understand and fulfil their risk management responsibilities as a core element of their roles and have the appropriate skills and training to do so.
  • Provide strategic insight to the Board and its Committees on the status of risks and controls across the organisation, and the efficacy of mitigating actions.
  • Develop and evolve risk management reporting in line with best practice including Board and relevant Committee reports.
  • Implement a risk horizon planning process at an agreed frequency to support proactive risk management and the Leadership Team in understanding emerging and future risk challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Internal Audit function, ensuring the effectiveness of the control and assurance framework is assessed through a programme of compliance and action reviews.
  • Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with the business needs.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of a similar level role and preferably, a risk qualification.
  • Experience in developing risk strategy at Board level and operating as a trusted advisor to Leadership and Senior Management teams.
  • Ideally, will have operated in environments prone to change, where external factors demand an adaptive approach to risk management, and in a global context.
  • Proven ability to translate business strategy into risk strategy and action plans, taking a proactive and hands on approach to driving risk awareness across an organisation.
  • Excellent listening and influencing skills; able to gather, digest and analyse information from stakeholders to persuade colleagues that the analysis and any recommendations based on it are the way to proceed.
  • Experience of interpreting and analysing data/information and distilling key insights to Senior Management.
  • Demonstrate excellent networking and stakeholder communication and management skills
