The Role

We've invested GBP40m into the creation of our Advanced Research and Engineering Centre in Belfast, part funded by Invest NI. We're creating a team of engineers and technologists who'll work within a bigger innovation ecosystem, including government, University academia and business, to help our clients take giant leaps, rather than incremental steps.

This role sits within our Advanced Research and Engineering Centre, based in Belfast, delivering pivotal breakthroughs to uncover the next generation of operational technology. As part of a team of innovative thinkers, you'll work together to design solutions that will define the next decade and beyond.

As a Software Developer, responsibilities will include;

  • The Software Developer will design and engineer new software products.

  • You'll be working on new greenfield projects using the latest technologies in an exciting period of change and growth.

  • You will use the latest cloud based technologies to lead development in one or more Scrum teams.

  • We're giving you the opportunity to work on all parts of the code stack as we utilize modern frameworks and technologies.

  • We also want you to grow your career by being a mentor for up and coming talent and by advocating for best practices within development.

  • Take a role in translating requirements to sprint stories and execute on them

  • Contribute to the evolution of the SDLC and the tech stack

  • Involved in identifying appropriate technology and approaches

  • Provide technical leadership by coaching and mentoring your team

  • Regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues

  • Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimisation

  • Contribute to the developer community

  • Learn and develop your skills utilising the latest technologies.

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience as a Software Developer in an agile environment

  • Experience in the following:

  • Programming languages such as Python, Java, C#

  • Modern Javascript frameworks

  • Latest CI/CD techniques and writing APIs

  • Data storage technologies

  • One of the major cloud platforms
