Castlefield Recruitment are exclusively working with an NHS client in the North West who are looking for a Head of Incident Management on an initial 3 month contract.

The role is suited to a motivated and dynamic individual, ideally with a clinical background, who has skills and expertise in leading incident investigations and will be able to provide support and on the job training to all levels of staff in the hospital.

Role:

  • Working as part of a busy team, helping to develop best reporting & incident handling practices
  • Supporting a large directorate working alongside the Deputy Director and Quality team
  • Formalising the SI reporting process and support staff in facilitating robust incident and risk management principles
  • Provide guidance in all areas of clinical safety and incident management

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Trust Patient Safety Incident Reporting, Investigation and Learning Strategies
  • Interpretation of national guidance into local context and policy/guidance development for Trust wide use
  • Develop and manage a system for reporting patient safety incident and standards of investigation
  • Develop and manage a system for the identification of serious incidents and report them to the appropriate external bodies and senior members of staff within the Trust in accordance with national guidance and Trust procedures.
  • Produce guidance and policies to support the implementation and management of Patient Safety Incident management
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programmes in relation to Patient Safety Incident investigation incorporating Root Cause Analysis, Human Factors and Systems thinking

Person

  • A clinical or non–clinical background with proven excellent investigation and report writing skills is essential
  • An ability to work systematically ensuring necessary deadlines are met
  • An ability to work as part of a wider team but also demonstrate their autonomy in managing the team's day–to–day workload
  • Skills to support patients, families, and staff during the investigatory process
  • Demonstrate excellent skills in the formalising and presenting of investigation reports whilst maintaining objectivity, professionalism, and impartiality
  • Available to start at relatively short notice and happy to spend time on–site
