The Commercial Services Group works closely with the firm's other commercial teams acting for clients ranging from start-up companies to large institutions, including UK and overseas private and public companies.

To provide a high-quality legal service to clients on all aspects of Corporate / Commercial law in line with the firm's standards of performance. Ensure exemplary client care establishing trust and confidence and demonstrate strong financial management, commercial awareness and professionalism at all times.

The Corporate & Commercial Solicitor Role

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide a high-quality legal service to clients on all aspects of Company / Commercial law including: • Mergers and Acquisitions • Corporate Finance • Insolvency and Restructuring • Joint Ventures • Constitutional documents and agreements between business owners • Terms & Conditions • GDPR advice • Secured Lending and Banking matters

2. Develop own technical knowledge and skills including the ability to: • Analyse information and reach sound decisions • Understand and adhere to instructions • Communicate succinctly both orally and in writing • Research appropriate case law and technical and legal precedents to progress matters.

3. Ensure you remain up to date professionally and technically by attaining and recording CPD, as well as developing knowledge of the marketplace and client base.

4. Meet the firms quality standards including: • Ensuring personal time recording and billing targets are achieved • Ensuring that all chargeable work is properly recorded on client matters • Adhering to the SRA's client care directive and to the firm's own policies as set out in the Office Manual • Maintaining good file management as set out in the Office Manual • Understanding the obligations relating to client accounts and ensure preparation and delivery of bills in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

5. Assist the team in its marketing and business development objectives, including activities such as attending client events, writing text/articles for the website and other publications, and assisting the Partners in organising marketing events.

6. Develop own self-organisational and interpersonal skills so that: • Work is prioritised and progressed • You demonstrate a balance of working on your own initiative and seeking advice or guidance • Partners are aware of your workload and specific issues which arise on your matters • You maintain a flexible and proactive approach to work

The Candidate

The successful Corporate & Commercial Solicitor will have the following:

Qualifications • Educated to degree level (with a minimum 2:1) and a strong LPC pass or equivalent and must hold a current clean practising certificate from the SRA. • Experience gained in a Corporate and Commercial training seat or following admittance to the roll.

Skills and Experience • Indicatively, 2-4 years' experience in this area of legal work which will be demonstrable though an awareness of relevant legislation and experience of and the ability to provide advice or consideration to relevant issues. • A demonstrable commitment to building and developing a career in Commercial Services, evidenced by legal experience in this area of law, coupled with broad commercial experience, CPD and an awareness of wider issues in the market place. • Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in undertaking contentious work. • Commercially minded with the ability to operate, liaise and advise to a high standard and think laterally and commercially with and for clients. • Experience of working to targets and time recording. • An awareness and demonstrable experience of involvement with business development activity. • Demonstrable commitment to customer service including providing high standards of service to clients. • A commitment to the highest quality standards together with an eye for detail. • A flexible approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines. • Proven communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to the audience. • IT literate including proficient with Microsoft applications and self-sufficient in using document management systems and the internet as business tools.

The Terms

This position is being offered at 30 hours up to full time, depending on the requirements of the candidate. Hybrid working is available outside of spending some of your working week at either (or both) the Reading or Uxbridge office. A generous salary and package of benefits are on offer.
