Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to work on a high–profile project for the UK MOD. The Senior Systems Engineer will join the Major Air Programmes business group, within the Integrated Systems Test, Evaluation & Acceptance (ISTEA) Systems Engineering team. The role will provide exposure to a wide–variety of Electronic Warfare (EW) products and subject–matter experts within domain, product, and technology fields.

The Senior Systems Engineer will contribute to the ISTEA group's system integration, test, verification, validation (IV&V) and trials activities, to support the demonstration and acceptance of airborne RF and EO EW capability at a system–of–systems level.

The role inherently requires a strong aptitude for problem solving and managing multiple system interdependencies across a number of Leonardo business groups.

What you will do

Product development:o Work with product design teams at all stages of the product lifecycle.

o Contribute to the Integration, Test, Evaluation, & Acceptance Plan (ITEAP).

o Identify appropriate levels / methods of test for given scenarios.

o Design and develop test environments, incl. specifying required test equipment.

o Support the establishment of test facilities suitable for ITEAP execution.

ISTEA IV&V strategy:o Work Operational Analysis and Model–Based Systems Engineering teams to influence state–of–the–art test and evaluation solutions for future product releases.

o Contribute to the identification and management of risk.

Conduct system integration and testing in accordance with the ITEAP:o Identify, manage and resolve any issues that may arise.

o Produce / document / analyse test data.

o Generate system–level verification cross reference matrix (VCRM).

o Support engineering design reviews across the product lifecycle

o Support the achievement of acceptance / certification from relevant design authorities.

System trials strategy:o Capture the trials aims and objectives.

o Development of required test environments.

o Creation of flight trials scenarios.

Engaging with customer network to ensure cohesion and suitability of integration activities and timelines.

What we are looking for

You really must have:

A solid foundation in a relevant technical domain, exploited in an airborne (ideally EW) systems context / application.
Experience of performing IV&V activities, including authoring test plans, procedures and reports.
Demonstrable experience in writing and reviewing high–quality technical documentation.
Ability to use DOORS software (essential) to manage test and verification evidence and traceability.
Experience of engineering gate reviews and the associated assessment of design compliance.
Ability to cope with a high degree of design complexity and significant levels of uncertainty.
Experience of supporting design / delivery teams to develop complex, technical solutions in accordance with plans and processes.
Self–motivated with an aptitude for problem solving and driving difficult issues to conclusion.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Experience of working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders of varying seniorities.
Ability to obtain SC Clearance for UK–caveated programmes.

It would be nice if you had:

Experience with product design and test standards for military systems.
Experience of Synthetic Environments and their use in developing the overall engineering solution.
Experience of mentoring junior engineers
